Desperate help needed......ceremony music! Newlyweds???

French-Fancy, 21 August, 2008 at 11:29 Posted on Planning 0 13

? right we are getting married in a church ceremony in two weeks time and I desperately need to tell my musicians what music I want. We are having a cello and a violin - and I want something for the flowergirls and BM's to walk into, then something seperate for me to walk into. Then we are having two hyms (I "think" Bind us Together and Give me joy in my heart) and then I need a song or two for signing the register and finally recessional music!

EEK!! I would like something quite traditional.......but am open to suggestions!

HELP PLEASE!!!! ?

Thanks all!

    Hi Meggy,

We are having a string quartet and for the signing of the register they are playing the Flower Duet and Con Te Partiro. For walking in and out we have a piper so can't help there.

Another one I have heard of is Handel's Hornpipe from Water Music

I always wanted Air on a G String to be played while we are signing the register, I love that piece of music. But as we are having a winter wedding we are now having the choir sing Silent Night and O Holy Night and our hymns are actually Christmas carols,

Have you asked the duo - must musical groups are used to playing for weddings and will have a whole pad of music which they can give you suggestions from. Sometimes pieces written for one instrument or combination don't work so well for other instruments so it's always best to talk to the musicians.

thanks - yes have asked them that and they have said that they are able to play most arrangements (unless the are very obscure!) so I know that they can play the majority of the popular favourites.....its just deciding which ones of those popular favourites to choose from!!

Someone at work got married recently & he had a string quartet. He said his bride walked in to the music from Fawlty Towers and for signing the register they had music from Wallace & Grommit!!!!

My 2 bridesmaids and also me & my dad are walking into canon in dee. My harpist suggested that the 2 bridesmaids walk in first to a certain point & the after a wee while when the mucis gets really loud me & my dad walk in...it sounds absolutely amazing because the music totally changes for me& my dad (gives me shivers down my spine)

I didn't really go traditional... I walked in to Your Hand In Mine by Explosions in the Sky (YouTube link). We had Balcony Scene from the 'Romeo and Juliet' soundtrack for signing the register. We walked out to Baby, I Love You by The Ramones (YouTube link).

I walked into the Trumpet Voluntary (Jerimiah Clarke) and out to Handel's Hornpipe. During the signing the choir sung Jesu. Joy of Man's desiring by Bach.
