Desperately need some honeymoon advice!

AngeliB, 30 November, 2009 at 19:44 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 1

The question is , where to go and when... Id love to go to Cuba or Mexico as lying on a beach for 2 weeks would be too boring for us. We are not backpackers in the slightest but would like to look at some shops and bars and look at a bit of culture.

Ive been told Cuba and Mexico is too dangerous to leave the hotel so dont go there!!!?? Any true experiences shared would be much appreciated.

Any ideas of other locations much appreciated...

Any ideas of whens best to go much appreciated... Id like it to be reallllly hot without rain and hurricanes please !! We are already married as of 3 weeks ago so doesnt have to be any particular time of year!!!

    Hi

Im not sure who said Mexico was too dangerous to leave the hotel - think they are wrong there! My brother lives in Mexico and like any country it has its dangers but not to that extent! We are going to visit him in March to the Riveria Maya region - lovely beaches with lots of diving opps and also trips like visits to waterfulls and mayan ruins. My dad went to Cuba and did enjoy it but said there wasnt much to do outside the hotel and there is quite alot of poverty there.

Are you wanting a beach based holiday ?

Egypt might be good as you could combine the beach bit with a trip to Cairo and there is lots of exciting trips like quadbiking and seeing desert villages

If you let us know what kinda thing your after then might be able to recommend a few more places :-)

Went to Cuba this May - yes there is a lot of poverty but there is also a lot to see. A completely different way of life there - can't really buy much, people are dancing in every bar and restaurant, music everywhere, lots of old colonial buildings. it's very interesting and i don't think it'll last forever. there is a good combination of beaches and city stuff to do so it could be an amazing experience...

Also have friends who have been to Mexico, and another who is actually FROM Mexico City. Yes it is quite a dangerous city but I don't think it's a case of being unable to leave the hotel. a lot of big cities have high crime rates etc...
