Destination for wedding - help!

EmmaVB, 30 September, 2009 at 12:58 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 6

Hi

My fiance and I are trying to looking at places abroad to have our wedding. He is Australian and we need to try to find somewhere fair for both sets of families (mine coming from the UK) to afford to get to.

Firstly, has anyone here been in a similar situation and is there anywhere you can suggest for a country/venue?

Secondly, we are mainly looking at Thailand at the moment. Can anyone recommend any wedding planners for that area?

Thirdly, how good are places like Thomas Cook, etc, for wedding services? I have looked at some brouchures but they don't tell us much.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thailand would be a great place to get married. I recommend the idland of Ko Tao. It's really quiet, basically a small village on a tiny piece of land. I lived there for a few months.

There is a wedding planner based in Bangkok, but who travels all round Thailand. Let me know and I can put you guys in touch.

Thailand is a good choice. This is for those couples who wish an exotic getaway with a meaningful and spiritual ceremony in a land famous for it's hospitality and beauty. I cannot specifically include here the name where in Thailand but most couple prefer to get married on these places Phuket, Koh Samui, Pattaya, Phi Phi island Koh Chang, Bangkok & Chiang Mai.

    Hope this helps! ?

In order to give you the best advice you would have to give us more information such as where you are located in the US, what time of year you'll be honeymooning and your budget.

My fiancee and I are planning a destination wedding in Jamaica next June. Originally, family and close friends were going to be invited, but as we really got down to the finances of it, we realized that its just isn't feasible for anyone (us our most of our guests). So we are going just the two of us. We are planning on doing a barbecue type reception with his family in Indiana. My family is in New York and my former maid of honor would like to throw me a shower there along with my mother. It's there way of being included in the wedding in some way. Is that appropriate? To have a shower either before or after a destination wedding, even though no one will be at the wedding? I don't want to seem greedy, but a the same time it seems like a perfect way to include those I love in New york without breaking the bank on anyone's side.
