Detachable train *flash*

LilMissBusyBride, 30 April, 2012 at 09:16 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hi all,

I really need some help from some good 'Googlers' ;-) I really like the thought of a dress with a detachable train. I am getting married in a fancy house and therefore feel I want a long dress with a train to match the formality. BUT I am a big dancer and don't want to get too hot or not be able to bust my moves! When I look on Preloved loads of dresses come up but I have looked on a few designers websites and cant find very many. See below for what I am going on about.

I guess I'm asking

- Has anyone had a dress with a removeable train, and how was it?

- Can anyone find any more from the popular designers that I might be able to go and try on.

Thank you!

I had thought about this as well, because I was concerned about the weight of a train given we're having a summer wedding, but like you finding them hasn't been successful, bridal shops have advised me to look at lighter dresses with a train that will hook into the dress so as it doesn't trail. Also have you considered getting a second dress to change into after the first dance? ... then you can "bust your moves" until your hearts content. ?

Another suggestion would be to have your dress custom made so your train is detachable.

Good Luck and let us know how you get on.

Amanda Wyatt does one that I know of:

Alfred angelo did have one as well but it must be from a previous collection as its not on the site any more.

If a train is not detachable then a seamstress will be able to add an evening hook or a bustle so the train will hang nicely at the back of the dress and not get in the way, without making your butt look big (believe me I had this worry)

Thanks for the advice. After more looking I still cant find v many. I think a short and/or leight weight cheaper eve dress might be a good option as the wedding is in Aug and no air con, so think it might be needed!
