Diagnose me please!

kelly29, 7 September, 2009 at 13:39 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

I've been feeling a bit "off" since Saturday. I wouldn't class myself as necessarily being ill; I've had a headache that I just can't shake and I felt a bit nauseous last night but generally I just feel "bleugh". I feel hot, but I'm not hot to the touch and I don't have a temperature.

Saturday night I had a major case of room spin whilst in bed (and sober) and I've just had another horrible dizzy spell, which has left me a bit shaken to be honest.

I do get migraines, but I know it's not one of those, and I know that I'm definitely not pregnant.

Is it possible for me to have an inner ear infection, even though I don't have any earache, or is there another reason why I might be having dizzy spells and a headache?

TIA x

It could be an ear infection and maybe the feeling sick was related to the dizzyness. Although having said that I do feel a bit like what you've described when I have one of my bad migraines and even when I've been suffering from sinusitus.

Might be worth getting yourself checked out at the doctors?

Hope you soon feel better x

    Hey Kelly,

I had labyrinthitis a couple of years ago. I started off feeling 'off' closely followed by periods of dizzy spells which I would get randomly during the day, walking about or even just sitting at my desk. It made me feel really sick and I often had a headache with it.

It is an inner ear infection (I didn't have pain in my ears at any point). I can't remember if I had antibiotics, but I remember the doctor give me tablets which are basically along the lines of travel sickness tablets to stop me feeling sick and he said my body would just get over it on it's own. I got it again a few months later and the doctor told me that occassionally you never fully get over it and it can reoccur only it shouldn't be as bad. I've had it a few times since then, but never as bad as the first time and it just goes away after a day or two.

Maybe worth going to see if they think it might be that! x

    Apologies for not replying earlier.

Whatever it was, I started to feel better the day after I posted, so didn't pursue it any further. I did wonder whether it may have been low blood pressure, as although my blood pressure is fine, I take beta blockers to prevent migraines so my blood pressure is normally on the lower end of the scale. Think I might mention it next time I see the GP.

Thanks again, and sorry again for being rude and not responding!
