Did anyone go to the sales?

Doughnut, 27 December, 2008 at 18:26 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 19

<Catherine tate nan>What a loada ***</nan>. M&S had a few bits in a size 18 and 20 and the aircon on so cold it wasn't much warmer than outside, I only found one bra in my size and it was a 'my first bra' type. Debenhams was rubbish too. Everywhere was crammed with people and not much reduced. New Look shoe reductions were good though and lots left in a size 8.

Yet again I was unable to find a size 10, 34 leg pair of black trousers ANYWHERE. Why is this so impossible? I'm not an odd shape and am 5ft6 - surely it should be easy? Does anyone know where I can find any? I just want plain ones, it shouldn't be this hard!

We went yesterday - it was really busy in the Bullring and the queues were bad in Debenhams but OK in Gap. I didn't buy anything on account of spending all my buttons on my H before Christmas but he got a few bargains - £25 off a pair of good walking shoes, 20% off some undies in Debenhams and three fab shirts in Gap for £9.99 each. Not a bad haul for an hour's work.

The bargains did seem a bit few and far between though - we were expecting better reductions than we saw.

I did! Next was crap, ditto m&s, boots, mothercare, Zara and H&M. Having said that I bought tshirts and a cardi for my daughter, a dress for my daughter and cords - yep for my daughter. And in fact the cords weren't in the sale but were a good price! (And I had already bought some in a different colour for her which she loves).

I went into Next too and grabbed a few things on the off chance they'd fit without trying them on. I don't often shop there but need a few worky bits. I bought some trousers for £12 reduced from £28 and a black cardy down from £18 to £7. They both fit perfectly and are really nice!

My trouser dilemma is now solved as they do a long leg, and you just buy a size smaller in Next than you usually are! I've cracked it ?

I wasn't planning to, but somehow ended up there... I bought a brown stripy jumper dress I saw a few weeks ago (£15), some new underwear from La Senza, a cute hat from M&S and a new bag from Debenhams. So not bad for an accidental visit!

I did all my next shopping online on Monday. I only wanted work stuff really, but ended up with the Rock Republic Jeans, Firetrap boots and jumper I've been wanting for ages, oh and a Lipsy dress just for good measure. Today I trailed into town and ended up getting a couple of shirst for H out of Next and a couple of games for my new DS lite. Other than that it was a waste of time.

I did my sale shopping on line - I have no patience when it comes sale shopping. Got a few bargains in Boots and treated myself to a mulberry bag I have been hanging my nose over for a while which had £100 off.

Bloke needs a new suit so we'll have to head out at some point. Though just surfing the net in hope I can find a suit bargain on line.

As a certified provincial dullard, I went to the Next sale today in Norwich and picked up two skirts and a top for my daughter and 2 tops for my son, nothing for me though.

Stupidly I did with 3 kids under 4 and OH ('twas his idea). It was ok, got my new camera and OH got a suit and Sam had full tantrum in Debenhams.

I also thought the sales were absolute s**te so when I got home went on the Debenhams and Next website and ordered a load of stuff! Wish I had done that to begin with and saved myself the hastle of trying to park and fighting my way through the crowds!

I went today, Next was so rammed I avoided the womens section all together. OH managed to get some bits though. Find a few bargins in Woolies and then got some nice bits in Monsoon for my daughter, oh and I managed to find some cheap socks and a vest top in fat face for me!!!

All in all though I thought the sales were a bit pants and I was expecting a little more than what I saw.

Oh dear god no. I do have Christmas money to spend but I honestly would rather pay full price for something than go rummaging round sale racks like I'm at a flipping jumble sale. I saw pictures in the paper of the crowds and it made my blood run cold seeing the hordes of folk. And what kind of *** queues up outside a shop at 3/5 am on Boxing Day morning? Do people really have nothing better to do? I am having to get up in the night at those kind of ungodly hours to feed my young baby, I cannot imagine doing it for "fun".

We went in about half two this afternoon ?

I can't go in the week as I'm at work and thought it would all be gone by next weekend. Turns out there wasn't much worth going for anyway.

LJ off of hitched did..at 3.45 am! And there were already 15 people ahead of her in the queue! Her little one had woken her up and she though 'why not'

I went today and got some lovely, largely green, bargains from Long Tall Sally, so I am a happy long streak of lard.

I am about to brave them in about an hour!

As we were away from 20th until yesterday, I had to be organised and get all my presents in advance-usually I leave it to the last few weeks/few days to bag the best bargains. That said, I did get a number of fab discounts on key items for H and my boys, online. I did most of my shopping online this year.

I have to go out as H got me a top from Monsoon which I hated, so need to get that exchanged for something else/a refund. I need some nice shoes to go with a gorgeous dress he bought me which I hope to wear NYE, H needs a particular lead for the camcorder I got him, we hope to get some nice new bedding and on a more mundane level, some food as we have returned to a house with little in the way of fruit, veg and staples.

Not yet but we may brave Bluewater tomorrow ?. Won't be too horrific, I only have to go to Jessops to hand over my gift card to my friend's h and tell him what I want him to buy and then run for the hills ?. After that I will probably go and see my friend for a while so it won't be a wasted trip out there.

We did go in yesterday to HMV to get a couple more games for the Wii and I needed to get some pics printed and some of those make your own postcards as thank you notes. Was pretty vile though, and in retrospect caving to Phoebe's demand of taking her scooter with us wasn't such a hot idea ?.

Went to John Lewis (Welwyn) yesterday and grabbed some nice fitted sheets that were sold out online, and a mattress protector too. Crowds weren't crazy either although it was busy. Also got a T shirt for half price from a boutique.

We went for a wander today and got a few bits, I got 20 jibs worth of Bourjois make up for a fiver, which made me happy. We also went into Woollies and I got a new phone stupidly cheap (I've been without a phone for 7 weeks) and a coat for Wizzy reduced from £28 to £2.80!

I went yesterday and got a trouser suit, 2 pairs of heels, 2 tops, 7 pack of socks & pair of slippers in Next for £80 - all fit and lovely. Rest of town was quite disappointing but got some underwear in M&S, work out tops in JJB, swapped 2 DS games for 1 pre-owned, returned H's Fat Face top and replaced it with 2 others in Freespirit.
