Did anyone not have a "colour"

MrsSkinner2be, 21 March, 2013 at 08:25 Posted on Planning 0 14

Did anyone not have a colour scheme for their wedding and if so what did you do about bridesmaid dresses - what colour did they have.

I'm really liking the spring/country theme and am now thinking of not have a specific colour scheme. For my bouquet I'd love wild spring flowers so not one particular colour. Want lots of wooden bits about and tea lights etc but I'm having 3 bridesmaids so don't know what I'd do about what colour to make them wear. I've always been keen on having a pink wedding (subtly done though!) but H2B isn't that keen although he would let me have it (we've discussed pink & silver).

Just don't know what to do about bridesmaids dresses.

We're not having a colour scheme; more a general theme. It started off as blue and yellow, but has now basically spread to pretty much every single colour you can imagine!

The good thing with a spring theme is you could have a bunch of wildflowers of all different colours (cornflowers, daisies, etc). How about a very pale, dusky pink? Or there are some lovely greeny shades which would look nice with the natural wood / flowers, like a sage green? (pic nicked from Google!)

I didn't intentionally have a colour or theme, however I've been reliably informed it's 'natural'. My bridesmaids were in cream.

    Hi,

We don't have a colour scheme or theme. We are having a summertime wedding with lots of flowers and whatever colours take our fancy.

I really dislike things that are 'matchy matchy' and I've never understood why there is a need to be restricted to 1 or 2 colours. When I went bridesmaid dress shopping I got sick of people asking me what colour we are getting and thank god I didn't have 1 in mind as it took as all day just to find a dress to suit everyone. We ended up going with ones that were a soft silvery blue. Our flowers will be a mixture of roses and calla lilies. Our cake is ivory with touches of pink and gold and our invites contained a dark red.

I get the impression the colour scheme idea is quite a modern thing and like all aspects of a wedding, there are no set rules, so do exactly what suits you.

I don't think you have to have a colour- how about dressing your girls in different colours of the same dress- might be easier than trying to get one colour to suit all 3. Sage green, pale pink and lemon would have been my choice if the OH wasn't a traditionalist.....

We didn't set out having a theme or colour but gradually we have come to realise we are having a 'wooden 'natural' wedding. I didn't intend to but thats the way it's worked out. The bridesmaid dresses are called nude pink, they are very pale beigey pink haha they sound vile but they are lovely! x

We are not really having a colour theme, the bridesmaids are in a taupe colour and the accents around on the day will be hessian, lace, wood etc, so a very natural look. Will be adding lots of different colours with the flowers which will be whatever is growing at that time of year!

We are not having a colour theme, aiming for a rustic/vintage look. But OH was desperately wanting to wear tails and have a blue tie, so the BM said they wanted blue dresses to. There will not be a general colour theme running through, but as we are by the seaside it works quite well. I think any natural tones look lovely! or you could do a mix and match of pale pinks and sage greens?

I'm not really have a colour scheme either, I'm getting married in October by the sea. My BM's are probably going to be in grey and I'm having antiquey pink roses, gypsophila and fressias in my bouquet and they will prob just have roses in their bouquets. I'm having loads of candles too.

I love your idea of a spring/country wedding. You could get your bridesmaids to wear the same dress just in different colours? Like a pale pink, a sage green and a lemon?

Smiley smile I don't have a 'colour'... it's all natural, country vintagey themed. I suppose I could say (at a push) that my colour is champagne, but that's only cus the bridesmaids are wearing these dresses:

So glad there are others in the same boat and liking all your ideas and suggestions. I love the thought of pale pink, yellow and sage green bridesmaid dresses. I mention this colour scheme at one point to H2B (but pink, sage & white) and he said he didn't like that green - however if it was just a bridesmaid dress I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

Kharv where did you get your scrabble bride and groom words they are ace! Love your jars with hearts - where did you get them?

We had scrabble place names so all guests had one. Scrabble tiles were bought in bulk from China and the racks are actually Wickes wooden beading.

The jars were a bulk buy (you can collect them obv but I was too lazy). I spray painted each jar with glass frosting spray then tied the hearts to one jar per table (there were three jars per table and we had 17 tables). The hearts were from GT Florist Supplies and were about 50p each.

Thankyou! Did you have candles in your jars or the led things?

We didn't have a set colour scheme just lots of neutrals, browns, champagne and cream.

I had those exact dresses too MrsB-to-be in long and short length I just changed the belt to a coffee coloured ribbon.

Mrs Skinner, we had 8 hour tea lights (we put sand in the jars first).

I didn't like the look of the LED things.
