Did anyone used to watch Game On?

Zo, 30 May, 2008 at 22:02 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

As the title says really...

I was a massive fan when I was younger and still quote things from it now and then. We went to Herne Bay today (we actually went to Canterbury but I saw on the map it was close by so we drove over) It was a bit of a let down really after wanting to go to see it after it was mentioned so much on the programme.

Hmm well I'm probably weird and no one will know what I'm on about ?

Yes I did! I loved it - have seen a few reruns and it seems really specific to the 90s now. It was much better when it had the dark haired guy (Ben Chaplin??) in it though.

Yeah Ben Chaplin was good, although in the end I think Neil (I forget his surname) seemed to fit the role better.

Neil Stute I think. He def fit the role well by the end (I quite liked all the stuff about "ginger students"). I think I liked Ben Chaplin better because I thought he was fit.

One episode that particularly sticks in my mind is the one where Matt was "wrestling" his (male) friend. V funny. Good Brit sitcoms seem to be few and far between - Game On and Spaced are the best of (relatively) recent years I think.

Oh I love that, he sort of realises he's gay kinda thing but totally blanks it. We are always saying 'teeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa martin' when we want the other to make us a cuppa.

Girly shirt lifting toss piece is another great line!

My parents live in Herne Bay!?

It's not that exciting really. I think it appeared in Little Britain too - the Emily Howard sketches.

I remember Game On - used to make me smile! She's in EE now isn't she - is it Samantha Janus?

Oh I LOVED Game On! I must get the dvds and make my husband a convert. I enjoy introducing him to British sitcoms to see which ones he likes. He is a huge Office fan and also likes Catherine Tate and Fawlty Towers but I couldn't get a smile out of him with The Royle Family. I think he's coming around to Gavin and Stacey as well.

oooh, I live in Whitstable (about 2 mins along the coast from Herne Bay) and I used to go out drinking with Ben Chaplin!

Herne Bay would be a massive let down in any situation.
