Did I miss something...?

GregorsGirl60, 28 October, 2012 at 19:08 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi,

I just wanted to check that there isnt some important tradition that has totally passed me by. I was just chatting to my mum about when we would go to the florist and I said that we couldn't do one weekend cause my OH is busy. She seemed stunned he was coming and said the flowers are supposed to be a surprise on par with the dress. I laughed and said I didnt think it was supposed to be a surprise and that I have never heard that. I told her he wanted an input into the table centres and buttonholes so I wasnt going to tell him to stay at home.

He is coming so it doesnt really make much difference - but i was just wondering if this is a 'thing' that passed me by?

Never heard of that - and couldn't imagine most men getting excited by the surprise of flowers.

Haha what Katie said, however my OH is quite interested in his button hole (hehe) and at Church this morning he asked about pew ends...I hadn't thought about them!

I've been "flower shopping" with my sister, my cousin and now for my own wedding. Each time the florist has asked to see the dress and bridesmaids dresses so they can best advise as to what would work best, this is the only reason I wouldn't want my fiance there, because they need details of the dress if you're asking their opinions on what would work. x

Blimey, I've never been asked to show them a pic of my dress or bridesmaids dresses!! Surely your basic colour scheme is all they need to know?

Anywho, I don't think your missing anything. Not heard of flowers being a secret xx

I'm sure I read traditionally your OH is the one who's meant to buy your bouquet as well as your engagement and wedding ring and the honeymoon.

My mum's actually buying our flowers, but I'm the one having the say in mine and bridesmaid, OH is sorting buttonholes and I mum's chosing her own one (cant remember the name of hers, I know its not officially a buttonhole, buts it like it).

I've given the florist what we're ordering and what I want as OH wasn't there at the time, we've just got to go back with him by January to confirm what the men are having.

We went together. He'll be wearing one of them so can't expect it to be a surprise! They did ask me about the style of my dress though (not an issue for me as we shopped for that together too!) They asked just so they could advice on what style of bouquet would look best i.e. shower bouquet or posy, but you could either decide that in advance or whisper to the florist if that's a secret! x

Never heard of it! I'm getting my OH involved everything that he can possibly be involved with. I think it's fairer that way to be honest. He's coming to check out the flowers, it's his wedding as much as it is mine!
