Did you are you using a handbag?

FIONATS73, 12 August, 2009 at 16:04 Posted on Planning 0 13

As the title says really, am wondering if it be worth having one for the essentials.

Lippy my glasses if my eyes get sore etc.

TIA

    Hi fiona,

i wasn't going to have a bag but ended up buying a beautiful one decorated with mother of pearl buttons on, (if i knew how to put up a photo i'd show you).

it did come in very handy on the day. from what i can remember i had my lip liner, gloss, powder, tissues and some mints (as my mouth was very dry).

i didn't have it on me for most of the photos as i thought it would look odd holding that plus the bouquet.

Dolly bags are really handy - especially for touch up lippy as you mention and handkerchief - most ladies cry at weddings! You can get the round ones, heart shaped ones and pouch type ones - most come in ivory and white.

Thank you ladies, will have to have a think. Not sure if I will have time to get one now though if I do decide to go with it?

Will have a look tonight for some pictures to see if it suits. Won't really want one for the day, more after the service and the meal onwards once the veil has been taken off I think but not sure

Really indecisive over this one as you can gather ?

Perhaps you could have a dressmaker insert a pocket into the skirt of your dress if it has a large skirt? is that a crap idea? lol

If you want to email me through Hitched, I have some photos I can show you but I'm not allowed to show them on here I'm afraid. You can buy them from bridal shops too.

I wasn't sure about this as the ones I really liked were quite expensive and I knew i wouldnt use it again .. however I found a lovely weddingy( is that a word) bag - all mother of peraly buttons and sparkly - think accessorise style - for just £6.00. I will get someone else to hold it or put it somewhere save until later in dy when I need it.

I didn't bother and didn't miss it. Both my mum and my sister (MoH) had bags, so they had my lippy, inhaler, etc..

I bought one in a last minute panic a few days before the wedding - just a cheap'ish one as I knew it wouldn't be something I would use again. Kept it in car during church service and then put it at our table during reception. Did use mini hairspray that was in it once, but probably could of done without it really. If i hadn't had it though I probably would have wanted lots of things from it - sods law.

I hadnt really thought about this but it would probably actually make sense for all the essentials! Saying that...if i did have one I think I would just be worrying where it was ll day and making sure i hadnt lost it!!

Think I will just give stuff to CBM to look after for me. She can stick it in her bag and then that way I can just summon her if I need anything! That's what she is there for after all! (Oh that and also the fact that she is my bestest friend in the world too!)

I actually had a little flower girl bag from Debenhams! I found it quite useful actually as I kept my "borrowed" lace hankie in it for during the speeches.

I don't think I will bother - I think it would just get on my nervous to be honest! I'm thinking of just giving my bits and pieces to mum hehe.

I don't think I can be bothered looking after a handbag/remembering where I've put it etc.

Mum will have a handbag and Dad will have a sporran, that'll do ?
