Did you expect any response from your Save The Date cards?

skyrocket, 2 June, 2011 at 21:25 Posted on Planning 0 15

Sent mine -finally - yesterday and not sure whether they have reached anyone yet but I wondered what response if any you expected and what you received?

I'm not sure what to expect, but when my cousins arrived a couple of years ago, I texted her to say they were lovely and thanking her for inviting me

I didn't really get much response, apart from my two friends who were impressed with a 'pre invite' in their words!!! i was a bit miffed that no one made a fuss but hmmm maybe just me being funny!! hope the actual invites get a better response!!!!

    xx

When we sent ours out a few people got in touch to say how excited they were - but I didn't expect, and didn't get, formal acceptances from anyone

I don't think I had thought about what response I expected before sending them. Most people texted to say they got it. Some waited to mention it until I saw them next.

    Hi!

We sent ours not long back and didn't expect a response but we got one off most people, even if it was just to say thanks for inviting me!

Some just got in touch to say they liked magnet idea!

I would of only thought I would of heard from people who know now that they can't make it! x

I think in a way I am expecting to filter those who can't come from the STD cards so I'd know not to send an actual invite. But I think I will be a bit miffed if no-one says ANYTHING! ?

I wasn't expecting any response but we got a pleasing amount of it... mostly people saying how much they loved the magnets idea, obviously people who haven't been to many weddings recently have never seen them before! LOL.

I didn't expect any, as a Save the Date is only just that - a warning of the date - but we even got RSVPs back, and quite a few declines amongst them so now not even sure if we should still send out the actual invites to those who declined, in case they change their mind by then (invites not going out til August)...

    I didn't expect a response no.

Well, not unless it was a "We are certain, we won't be able to make it so you may as well invite someone else" of which I think we had 2 guests say.

We sent ours at the 14month mark, as soon as we'd set a date.

But that's because we are a Friday wedding in August and wanted people to know before they booked hols etc.

We sent ours out with about 12 months to go.

I expected more responses than we got ☹️ I was a bit disappointed but it is just a warning of a date. One of my bridesmaids text when hers arrived and a couple of people commented how lovely they were but that was it!

As we're getting married abroad and wanted to know numbers, we specifically asked for a response to our STDs (although still didn't get them all!).

I've only ever received one and that was given to me by hand, so obviously I thanked her for it. I think if I received one in the post, I'd send a text to say thanks and that I was looking forward, or would let them know if I definitely couldn't make it.

    I don't think I'd expect a response to a standard STD card.

I have never received a save-the-date card. If I were to, I think I'd acknowledge it, but probably not very formally (text/email/something). However, I almost certainly would reply formally if I knew that I wasn't going to be able to make it (and suggest that the places are used for other guests). After such a reply, I would not expect to receive an invitation.
