Diet suggestions for the last 4 - 6 weeks?

rainforest7sparkle, 17 February, 2014 at 16:24 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any diet plan suggestions for the last few weeks leading up to the wedding. I don't necessarily mean diet as in to lose weight but more the best types of food to eat so my skin and energy levels are at their best and I'm not bloated etc! Has anyone tried anything that has really worked?

Not that I'm speaking from experience .. but I'd imagine the best thing you can do for your body/skin/wellbeing now is to have lots of fresh fruit and veg, as little processed food as possible, plenty of water, balance and moderation Smiley smile

Thanks! I pretty much eat that way now as it is, I rarely eat processed food but a friend of mine was going on about these vegetable shakes and things - she has homemade almond, spinach and kiwi smoothies at certain times during the day to help her metabolism and I didn't know if that sort of thing was worth doing or whether it is more like torture!

    Sounds like torture to me!

I think the best things is as already suggested, lots of fruit and veg, avoid too many carbs, LOADS of water. Cutting the carbs should sort out the bloating and energy (although energy levels will take a few days to a week to increase).

I will also start using an astrigent cleanser (the Avon one is fab) every day from 5 weeks before the wedding and toner. At the moment i generally just use baby wipes and then soap. That should sort out the skin.

I'd be wary of introducing any new products on my skin so close to the day. But my skins a bugger and reacts to everything! I've been using a cleansing brush since Xmas which is helping my skin lots,.. But initially I broke out in tons of spots & whiteheads - seriously unattractive!

My friend did the body reset diet a while back and made me a lovely green smoothie - spinach , green grapes, pear, yogurt and avocado with a squeeze of lime juice. I normally hate pears and avocado but this was yum! No idea of the health benefits in that smoothie but she lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks.

I've recently cut gluten out of my diet (health reasons) but I already feel so much more healthy, have more energy and a lot less bloating..

This may help with the run up to your wedding?

Paleo diet/lifestyle. Cut out gluten as above but also diary, all unnatural sugars (you would be amazed what has sugar hidden in it) fizzy drinks, minimise caffeine. So basically lots of lean meats, vegetables, good fats (avocado, nuts) and fruit. It does wonders for maintaining energy levels as you remove all the slumps caused by crazy sugar levels, improves skin, helps you sleep better. It's been a change adjusting to it but I honestly can say when I follow it I have never felt better

Thanks for all your replies. I've been using the Liz Earle range of skin care and it's great, I'm noticing a big difference in my skin already. I must increase the amount of water I drink and will cut out the carbs. My dress is quite fitted so I can't afford to have a podgy belly! The Paleo diet sounds good, I will look into it.

I've been eating lots of fresh fish with lots of veg (no potatoes). Or chicken breast (no skin) with salad or veg. And chicken in a pitta as a treat.

Prawn and chicken stir frys too.

No apples etc as they are very sugary. Then a banana for a sweet fix if I need one.

    Less tea with milk.

Oh and eggs for breakfast (scrambled but without milk and butter).

I've seen a slow but steady weight loss/feeling better. And I don't feel like I've starved myself or got bored yet- I've been doing it for approx 2 weeks.

Hi there! My advice would be to use My Fitness Pal to track the amount of calories you're eating - it's so easy to overdo it on portion size, so even if you're eating healthily, you still go over your daily allowance. It also means you can have what you want, as long as it's in your calorie allowance, so if you're craving chocolate you can have it.

Pugs, apples actually have a low GI than bananas that are actually deceivingly high!

I echo everyone else here. I've considered cutting gluten. I've reduced it by 70% but I've not gone t-total yet
