Dinner thread

SophieM, 27 March, 2009 at 16:28 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 31

What's for supper tonight? We are having mock Nando's (Nan-faux?) - peri-peri chicken breasts, rolls, salad, corn on the cob, possibly spicy rice, and Portuguese custard tarts for pudding.

Probably my version of Sainsbury's dine in for £5: chicken en croute (80p off), mash (60p off), cabbage (only 60p) and tiramisu. I didn't like their dessert choices and then found the mains discounted on date reasons!

Oh I love Nan-faux (liking what you did there Sophie!) it's one of our favourite meals.

Not sure what we are having tonight, we're heading to Ikea, so will probably grab a takeaway on the way home. Fish & chips possibly.

Both Motherships are coming for dinner, so I've done a huge bobotie which we'll have with broccoli and mange tout sauteed with sesame seeds and soy sauce. And we're having pudding! Yippee! A forest fruits roulade thing with clotted cream ice cream. And wine. Lots of wine.

Asda pizza - 'himself' had his monthly curry club at lunchtime so won't be particularily hungry I should think. Though apparently they weren't actually going for a curry today which slightly defeats the purpose..

The plan was to have friends round for dinner and have slow cooked lamb shanks in red wine with lots of buttery mash and green veg, followed by little chocolate pots made by melting together about 250g dark choc, a little butter, 200ml double cream and some pureed cherries in kirsch, which I put in the freezer to set. They look delicious.

Sadly I came down with my 2 year old's D&V bug at lunchtime and have had to cancel ? Dinner now will be a slice of dry toast, if I feel up to it...

    Loving Nan-faux ?

I have just put ours on. Smoked salmon and potato rosti, with steamed carrots and mange tout. Might go mad and have bananas and custard for pudding.

    KN, I love cheesy peas!

I'm doing a roast chicken with roast pots, stuffing, veg and yorkshire puds.

And a coffee and walnut cake.

Mortgage advisor is coming round at 7pm and I wonder if I feed him he'll sort us out with more cash? ?

    PayDay Chinese ?

We were wasting too much money on takeaways, plus its obviously not that desirable an option heathwise, so we now limit ourselves and have a Chinese on the first Friday after payday.

Crispy Duck, salt & chili chicken wings, pork chow mein, beef in black bean and we always pick a new dish off the to try by picking a number at random off the menu! Yum....just got to get the kids in bed now....although I might get H to do the baths as I'm already on the Rose ?

Ooo this thread is making me hungry. We're having BBQ chicken ciabattas or chicken with noodles and veg or pizza from Papa Johns. I am voting for the latter with wedges and garlic bread.
