Dinner thread

What's cooking ce soir?

LOML has offered to go to the butcher on the way home so I have carte blanche, but no idea what I feel like. Whatever it is, we'll be having salad with it but that is the only given. Help meeeee decide!

We're having M&S 1/4 lb burgers with roasted tomatoes and either oven chips or cous cous.

Lamb chops with a lentil, feta and coriander salad - I think it was in last month's Olive

I'm not entirely convinced by the sheep / cheese combo but will happily give it a go.

I am not getting home until around 9 tonight, so it will be something quick and easy, most probably eggs, bacon and mushrooms! ?

I think that sounds fab, Piester - I heart lentils. Little squashed spheres of joy.

Rose veal is lovely but my god it's dear.

I think I am leaning towards prego rolls, spud wedges and salad.

I am just about to bash a couple of chicken breasts, marinate them in some OO/garlic/lime juice, then will BBQ them and have them with some not-quite-bombay-aloo sauted potatoes. And salad.

Right - Marinade/marinate - marinade is the noun, marinate the verb? you marinate something in a marinade?

I hate these threads, cos I always read it feeling like I should want to make all these delicious meals too...I'd definitely eat them if they were made for me!

We've got boring Lasagne from Tesco with chips & onion rings....evil!

Tomorrow will be Pie, mash & beans ?

I wish OH was a bit more adventurous with his eating ☹️

i changed it about 3 times before posting. "I'm going to marinade the meat" sounded so much nicer, even if it is wrong ?

However, it seems the verb marinate (1645) and it's later, alternative spelling marinade (1682) both predate the noun marinade (1725) by about half a century, so who really knows ?

    I'm such a nerd.

Tonight I'm going to try and cook Cullen Skink as we had it on holiday last week and it was lovely, I'm going to serve it with home made bread.

I'm feeling crappy with a cold so comfort food is needed!

Lasagne and veg - probably broccoli, green beans and maybe sweetcorn

Ooh and because I'm starving today despite eating almost constantly, I'll probably do some garlic bread too

Veal sausages from the farmers market - I was hoping for Osso Bucco but this is only the second time the stall's been there and apparently somebody very excitedly bought up all their osso bucco first thing because they'd never seen it in Scotland before. Neither had I the previous time we were there but I'm obviously more restrained!

Oh, almost forgot - having peas and parsley mash c/o my allotment with them as well which should be nice, although give it a week and we're going to be fed up of peas!

I'm going for a run, and then to the pub ? so I think dinner will be something convenience like Quorn hotpot which sounds awful but is actually quite nice and low in cals and fat (to make up for the couple of beers I will no doubt have).

I've been home all day and had lovely ideas of herb-crusted trout fillets but I realised about an hour ago that i'd forgotten to remove the fish from the freezer and MrH is due home in 45 mins so I'm now dashing to M&S for comfort food. (It's cold and wet here and he's been playing football outside).

I do still have nice vegetables from the trout dinner here though so that might salvage dinner a little bit!

I always feel ashamed to join in this thread!

I had omlette with the ham and cheese that needed eating up. And will most likely have the rest of the cheese on nachos which will come along with the munchies later! (we're working the night shift in the pub!) x

We're having honey glazed gammon and new potatoes courtesy of last weeks M&S Dine for £10.

I joined WW this evening, so I'm wondering what else I can scoff before the diet starts!

I cooked salmon, with a lemon and black pepper marinade. Served with spring onion, tomato, carrot, feta, mint and lemon cous cous. Twas very lovely.

Just spoilt the healthy dinner by troughing dairy milk! Ah well.
