Dinner thread

geekypants, 6 February, 2009 at 17:15 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 32

I was planning a swede and caramalised onion pie with mustard pastry and lots of green, but Im tired and fancy pottering about the kitchen, so might do a curry ot some ilk instead, perhaps with beetroot.

What about all of you?

I'm going out to a japanese restaurant, where I imagine i'll have what I usually have, which is sushi and miso soup, crab salad and black cod with spicy edamame beans. I'd rather eat decomposed slugs frankly, because I am sooooo hungover and am truly spewey Louey today. ? Actually, I may ditch the beans for sticky rice which will provide me with some good rejuventating stodge. Oh nooo, scratch that. Sticky rice reminds me of my thai meal last night, which I threw up the the loos of some hideous bar after a sambuca competition went badly wrong. Back to the beans for me.

I have bolognese in the le creuset as we speak, was going to have homemade pizzas for tea but the way the weather, I fancied something that sticks to the ribs more.

Friday night trashy TV watching food here. Spicy potato wedges (think I'll use extra chilli powder) Grassingtons wholegrain bakes (spicy bean burgers) and beans. With some rice pudding after.

Take away with the girls if the snow doesn't scupper it but if it does either Prawn curry, paella or chilli. Probably not the latter though thinking about it as I prefer to slow cook that.

I know why I love you- we have exactly the same taste in wine. ? Talking of which, I'm going to have a shower and then make champagne cocktails (alka seltzer, hurrah) with my new fancy wild hibiscus flowers in syrup that i got in harvey nicks. ?

I've got some duck breasts which I think I'll do a red wine sauce, with mashed tatties and neeps.

Plus some rather fine red wine.

MrKT has just called me to say he's taking me for a curry to make up for the lack of chocolate in our house today. Apparently afterwards we're going to the supermarket and I can choose whatever chocolate I want <excited childish squeal> I am so easily pleased ?

Now, what do you reckon I could get out of him for the fact that our Sky+ hasn't been working all day so I've had nothing to watch on TV and have been uber lonely....that's gotta be good for a bottle of bubbly hasn't it?

I have some salmon in the fridge that needs eating, although I'm not sure I'm in a healthy fishy mood. H hasn't been home before 10pm for the past 2 nights, so I'm hoping he make up for it and take me out for dinner instead. I quite fancy a curry...
