Dinner thrread

What's everyone having? I'm going to make a quiche-type thing with caramelised onion, pears, pont l'eveque and pine-nuts (and possibly other things beginning withn P - oh, Pastry ?), and have it with salad. Not ideal on a freezing night like this but if I serve the tart fairly warm it should be okay.

My goulash is bubbling away nicely ready for later and it smells yummy. It must smell good because even my 13 year old son said it smelt good ? Not having anything beginning with a "p" though, sorry about that ?

    Cauliflower cheese with bacon.

Need to have something easy and comforting for when we get back from taking the cats to the vet. It's only the usual checkup and jabs, but they make such a fuss you'd think it was the end of the world!

Lasagne. Haven't made it in years, but I'm trying to make last nights Bolognese sauce look a bit more appetising.

Credit crunch household management is going really well here ?

We were at Borough Market on Saturday morning and bought lots of interesting stuff.

Last night was Ostrich burgers and tonight I have sausages from the Ginger Pig to go with mash and beans.

Now just need to decide if we're having plain old cumberland or the lamb, mint & garlic ones.

We have kangaroo burgers in the freezer!

    Really cheating here.

Have bought a ready cooked deli counter chicken at waitrose and am going to use it and homemade stock from earlier in the week to make Nigel Slater's lemony chicken noodle soup.?

I've had to improvise as we don't have any peppers and there are various ways to do it but I brown some diced steak in butter, chuck in a sliced onion and my improvised bits of celery and green beans, stir them round until the veggies have gone soft, add some tomato puree, about 250ml of beef stock and 3 tsp of paprika, salt and pepper and leave it to bubble. I've also added two squares of Green & Blacks dark cooking chocolate for the first time this time so I'm not sure how this one will turn out ?

My plan is to incorporate the leftover braised red cabbage and apple into a bubble and squeak and have it with fried eggs but i doubt Dr L will go for that, so i expect we'll be going shopping later ?

I made two batches of soup last night, a sweet potato and an onion soup, so we're going to have some of that tonight with a garlic tear and share.

I've just had some Bacon Wheat Crunchies as I'm still at work. Will probably be cereal or a stir fry when (if) I get home.
