Disaster day with 6 to go.

LeaLeigh, 8 September, 2012 at 21:04 Posted on Planning 0 17

Just need a vent.

Woke up yesterday and my wisdom tooth (partially erupted) was aching. I ignored it. Woke up today more sore and visible swelling.

My face has now doubled in size and part of cheek seems to have come away and the pain is horrid. Have to wait till Monday to see if Dentist can fit me in to give me antibiotics. They have caused this, I went for a rather rough scale and polish, and I always get infections after, new dentist wouldn't give me antibiotics (I have a heart condition, mouth/tooth infection = dangerous)

Just gutted as if doesn't clear up I will have an odd shaped face, won't be able to enjoy the food, and flying off on minimoon could be painful.

Went to collect suits today. 4 out of the 9 are wrong! Don't fit as they were measured wrong, or just sent wrong item. This includes OH. We did a 120mile round trip today especially to collect as we don't live where we are marrying. Now not ready till Wednesday OH can't try till Thursday so stuffed if wrong again. I had to pay balance before collecting. The 4 members of staff had no idea what they were doing and had no idea who was doing what! I sense a lawyer like email post wedding.

For rapid clear-up, ask for Metronidazole as antibiotics as long as you can take them. You can't touch booze on them, but you should be sorted within 3 days! Severe dental infections are often resistant to the "first line" drugs like amoxicillin.

Got into the emergency dentist for tonight so see what the verdict is.

Unfortunately Metronidazole makes me sick and knocks me out. I have too much driving to do over the next few days to risk taking them. Also I know even after taking them you can't drink for a couple of days and I don't want to risk reacting violently to bubbly on my wedding day.

I am getting the best man and FMIL to deal with the suits as they live near the shop. They are a national reputable firm so surprised how its all turned out like it has.

You poor thing. I had a v badly infected impacted wisdom tooth, I eventually got it removed but it was so sore and made me really miserable. It also caused me lock jaw due to the infection so I could barely open my mouth. Hope the emergency dentist sorts you out. Don't be afraid to keep going back to get sorted.

Clove oil is good at drawing out infections - when I had an infection after my wisdom tooth extraction the dentist plugged the hole with some gauze dipped in it. You can buy it in Boots but be warned it tastes vile!

    Hope you feel better soon!

    LeaLeigh,

I also suffered with the worst wisdom tooth pain 2 months before my wedding and I found the best pain relief, along with anti-biotics from an emergency dentist, was corsodyl mouth wash. They sell it in Boots and it sometimes leaves a funny taste in your mouth, but it realllllly helped me. Its a smaller bottle than a regular mouthwash and I think its around £5, but it's totally worth it!

Dental pain is awful!! I really hope your pain eases soon!

    Fran x

I second both corsodyl and clove oil. Clove oil is amazing. It tastes disgusting but it really does work. I hope it clears up in time for your wedding. Tooth ache is miserable, I really feel for you.

    Hello,

Sorry to hear about your wisdom tooth, unfortunately, I can't offer much advice there but I can certainly relate! Have you taken any painkillers? I know it won't clear up the infection, but neurofen might help with the pain/swelling. Check the advisory notes first though just in case they don't recommend them if you have a heart condition. Also, swishing your mouth regularly with saltwater will help to keep out any food particles which may make things worse for you.

Regarding your suit fiasco, have you taken out wedding insurance? Again, it might not be included, but you may be able to claim something for the cost of travelling, or if you have to buy/hire from somewhere else in case the shop doesn't sort it out for you! I'd certainly write to them after the wedding and ask for some kind of compensation for all the stress they've caused you. Not what you need with only 6 days to go!

Good luck, and sorry I can't really offer you anymore advice than this. I hope some of it helps you, at least.

    Best wishes

Thanks everyone. Got myself antibiotics now and lots of advice on salt water etc. Cold compresses all the way.

My brother just informed me he collected his suit today. Again completely the wrong size. I saw him get measured/try on so I know they have fluffed it! Broken cravat too! He is more annoyed as he now needs time off work to go and re-collect it when it hopefully fits!

OH Grandma now has a bee stuck in her ear. I have to laugh now because otherwise I would go insane.

At least I can look forward to collect my dress and things tomorrow. A bit of retail therapy may be required.

And Chris you can just take photos at an angle avoiding the right side of my face ?

Hey,sorry to hear you're having a nightmare with your wisdom tooth- I know it's a bit drastic but could they not extract it at the dentist? I had mine pulled because I couldn't bear it.

And I'm sorry but the bee in the ear made me laugh out loud !

I hope you feel better soon and everything sorts itself out x

Don't worry we laughed at the bee too. Its just ridiculous.

I can't have it out this week. Had the other out last year, far too traumatic and I looked like I had been in a car accident for weeks.

Its all good the face is fine!

No update on the bee but still 5 suits down. Making a phone call to the suit hire place shortly. I can be very persuasive from 60 miles away ?

My mother may be on crutches though so at least we can monitor her wine intake ?

Accident at work. Has been advised to attend the hospital with her ankle but she is determined she won't till after the wedding now. I am taking bandages now and the first aider from work is attending so got that covered!

No update as of yet on the bee. I will attempt to get it in my report.

3 suits still not right out of 5 now. They have promised me they would courier any missing items but I draw the line at a pink shirt! pink!

I was relaxed until everyone else called me stressed. Its not their wedding!!
