disaster its just not fair

Hi Ladies ,

i am sooo fed up i am getting married in 11 weeks time and had everything sortede 4 weeks ago my cake maker went bust and i lost 277 pounds my mum stepped in and saved the day she is now making me (made) a top and bottom teir fruit cake i bought some stands from ebay and a topper and now this will be my wedding cake my bridesmaid sister is making me some cupcakes. phew

just as im getting over thati drove past my wedding dress shop yesterday and it was empty everything gone even my dress my flowers and my tira veil shoes. after a whole morning crying and ring the bankruptcy person who told me it will take 6 months to get my dress back my H2B rang my sister and requested all my bms (7 of them)get together and we go dress shopping and we found a liccle shop that only had four dresses left as they only do floweres and venue dressing but i tried the dresses on and i have found one that i love possibly more than my other one. the lady did me a really good deal on the dress and my flowers : )

my point is why do ppl think its ok to let you buy your things when they now they are going bust ( they have known for 6 months apparently ) and lie to your face she even told me when i booked my flowers her card machine was broke and could i bring cash(500) which i did ( sooo stupid)

after all this it is either someone tellin g me not to do it or it is fate not sure which but fingers crossed i have no more disaters sorry just needed to sound off

zoe xx

Oh Zoe that really is cr@p! But like others have said it sounds like you have a good network of family and friends around you to help you.

Hope you manage to get everything sorted, it sounds like you will.

Oh, this is so horrible to hear, thank goodness for your wonderful friends and family.

I think this really highlights the need for wedding insurance in the current economic climate.

So sorry to hear you have had a few setbacks so close to your wedding. Your family and BM's sound really supportive it is great you have found a dress you love.

As for the suppliers, shame on them! As someone else has said this really highlights why insurance is such a small price to pay for peace of mind. Can you claim for your losses on your policy if you have one?

    Thats awful.

At least it sounds like you are on top of it the best you can be. If I was you, to not make the situation any worse, I'd leave all the fighting with solicters and stuff till after the wedding.

You've got enough to do as it is.

How awful for you, and I dont think its someone telling you not to go ahead its just a serious run of bad luck !!

Glad you got your dress sorted in the end but as for the shop owner what a B**** this happened to a bridal shop here she was still taking bookings and payments knowing she many months prior that she had lost her buisness and was going to be bankrupt, such heartless behaivour.

Oh Zoe...how terrible for you, it's absolutely outrageous that these suppliers have let you down this way...and at any time it's bad enough to loose this amount of money but with the current economic situation it's even worse. It's a good job you have family and friends to help you out.....I have a brand new tiara you can have if you want....mail me .

So sorry to hear this Zoe and it makes me so angry when stories like this appear. Sadly, it is a common occurrence in these times as shops are closing on the high streets due to businesses struggling but it's heartless to take people's money and run knowing full well they have no intention of providing the goods. As others have said, wedding insurance is a vital necessity these days which for a small price - approx £30-40 gives cover on just about everything and gives peace of mind.

It's good to hear that you have managed to get things sorted though and it's great that your family and friends have given you the support and help - hope you can get some recompense from the suppliers that let you down.

That's terrible but on the flip side really good and shown you how much you are loved. Brilliant for your H to arrange dress shopping for you. For every crook out there, there are more lovely people and it is a story to tell your kids.

What a nightmre for you, so sorry to hear about that.

If you need a veil sorting, there is a fab woman that did mine & many on here have also recommended called Margaret. She was reasonably priced, had many different tuelle types & colours (& will send samples beforehand) & can help with getting the length correct. She will also take the veil back if you really dont like it. My veil is in Sydney, otherwise you could have mine.
