Hey all, where have you got your disposable cameras from and what ones did you get? My theme is ivory and gold?

I personally think they are a waste of money - a friend of mine used them for her wedding, and only had about 10 half decent photos for about 10 cameras.

katieannesmith, you seem to have mentioned this website an *awful* lot in all your previous posts, you must really like it! when and where are you getting married?!?

Can I just put my oar in about disposable cameras as a keen amateur photographer? The pictures are usually rubbish! They have crappy lenses and in general do not give a good result.

    Just my opinion of course!

My plan is to have cds in stamped addressed jiffy bags so that the guests can use their own digital cameras and send us any good pics! Let's face it, 90% of people have digital cameras which are way way better than those disposables, and I think it gives you a fighting chance of having some half decent pics!

(certainly not meaning to cause any offence to anyone! Just my opinion!)

This is exactly what we're doing. Not only is the quality of the photos from disposibles not very good, but the shots taken probably won't be either i.e. your guests will probably end up taking lots of "joke" shots, whereas with their own digital camera they will only send you the images they know you will be interested in.

We're going to do an insert for the CD case with our wedding details on and the return address.

If I was in the stationery business I would offer CDs with personalised inserts as part of my product range.....

(Won't be taking this on Dragon's Den so feel free to steal)

WSS - My friend had disposable cameras at ther wedding and when she got the photos developed there were picture of people's asses and other nether regions...which could be quite funny but not something I'd particularly want to pay to get developed. It depends whether you have mature friends or friends who like to muck about (like me!).

Im at a bit of a loose end with cameras. I wanted cameras as think I would get some really nice pictures but like a few of you have said its not very good quality. I can also imagine I would possible get a few nether region pictures as well, which like you say do you really want to pay for! I did see cd's a couple of days ago & liked it but wondering how many people are actually going to be bothered to download pictures on to my disk so how many would you get back.

    What do you all think?

I'm in the 'Don't bother' camp too I'm afraid!

Photo quality on those is awful! And do you really want to buy the cameras and pay for developing for the sake of 300-400 dark, out of focus 6x4 photos of people mucking about?

Every man and his dog has a digital camera now, and even basic digital cameras are now very decent quality (I bet that over half of your wedding guests will bring one!), and many of them are quite keen amatuers. I would make a point of letting people know (in you invitation info sheets?) that you would love people to share their pictures from the day and I bet everyone will be really keen to show of their best shots! Providing CDs with an SAE is a great idea! I would maybe be inclided to just put a basket/pile of them somewhere in the venue and invite people to pick one up if they have photos to share. Of course, any of your guests who are under a certain age will be sharing their photos anyway via facebook ?

I hope they all come out ok otherwise they will be a total waste of money :-( Did not realise they can be crap quality.

Am getting married March 2010 and I need a venue in kent but yet to find one I really like within budget which is most peoples problems I guess.

I think I should stop spending on the little things and sort out the main stuff, oops!

I'm another one in the no camp. I only got 6 for the kids at our wedding to do a photo challenge (a quest of 10 photos to capture) and it was a total waste of time photos wise as they were RUBBISH. It kept the kids occupied for a little while though so you could say it was worth its weight in gold though!!!!!

Our OTDC made personalised CDs for us (with addressed envelopes), about 20 of them, to put on the table for about £1 each. We got at least half of them back. The pictures were great - because they were people's own cameras we got shots from arriving at the church onwards (which you won't get if they're on reception tables), and you can look at them all before deciding which to print.

You also get nicer pics - you can delete any bottoms etc - but as they are people's own record of the day, not just yours (IYSWIM), they tend to take much nicer, better pictures!

It's worked out cheaper than disposables - about the same cost for the CDs as a pack of cameras, but no processing charge. I would definitely recommend doing this instead of disposables.

A couple I know had disposables and haven't had them developed nearly 3 years on!

I think we will do a similar thing but actually will include/print a note in the thank you cards with details of a photobox account and password so that people can upload their pictures straight to that account or asking them to send us a disk if they would rather not do that.

I have gone for both CDs and Disposibles as I saw the CD's advertised on Confetti at the time of ordering my disposibles.

I think with the disposibles you get those shots that you would otherwise delete on a digital camera because the person doesn't like the way their hair is or whatever. As for the CD's - cheap packs in Asda I got 35 dics for less than a Fiver and plastic Wallets from A computer fair 100 for £1.30 Then just printed a small note to put in side Job done for just under a Tenner!!
