I would say yes do it... I am planning to have some as I think the pics would be great! You can always hire digital cameras for £9.99 per camera... then the film doesn't run out and the flash is automatic!?

My personal opinion would be no.
Generally the quality isn't all that good and you then pay a fortune getting the films developed- if at all.

Alot of the time, people don't get around to it or are put off by cost and it ends up being a waste.

As most people have digital cameras these days others on here have suggested providing guests with a disc & SAE instead and asking them to put a copy of their pictures on it for you.

Of course, its up to you though, but there are plenty of options.

Im not having them at the reception as my OH friends would use them all to take photos up their kilts!

I'm having them as a favour for the children though. Dont expect good photos but kids love taking pictures.

I'm doing the photo cds, they seem to be cheaper than cameras (even if we include stamps!) and I figured that way I could pick and choose what photos were good and I can have them made into a photobook or something after the wedding. I'm reluctant to spend a fortune developing cameras to get what could be a handful of decent shots!

My fremd had dispoable ca,ersa at her wedding and they were not really used that much, some were not used at all and some were half used.

I do like the idea of giving guests a CD to upoad theor photos to! You would end up with a great selectuion of photos.

I love hitched I am getting some great ideas!!

My viewpoint is... Don't get them!

Ours were just so terrible - photo's of feet, random walls, unflattering photos of guests, or just of the floor. I paid £4 per camera to get them developed... ?

We did this (in addition to having a photographer and friends taking pics on their cameras & phones as usual) and I have to say it was well, well worth it. We got some hilarious and some amazing pics that we didn't otherwise get. No, the quality wasn't amazing but we got these incredible moments. They cost about £6 each (we put one on each table) and £1 each to develop & put on a CD. I'd recommend doing it.

I'd say it depends on your opinion of smutty photos taken by drunken guests or stupid wasted ones taken by kids. If your opinion is "fun" and "cute" then get them. If you'd see that as a waste of money, and hoped for some nice reportage style candid shots that guests managed to take, then don't bother. People will take their own cameras for decent shots, and waste the disposables, in my experience, leaving you with a large bill for pointless pictures. So, if you want silliness, get them. If you hope for sthg better, forget it!

Can I just say - we didn't have any 'smutty' photos taken on ours (guess that depends on your guests!) and although the kids took a few naff ones, they also got some lovely shots (and so did the adults!) ? But don't dismiss them as stupid, wasted or smutty. As I said - we got some great, entertaining, clever shots that really added to our memories from our day.

When disposable cameras first became fashionable people still had film cameras and not a lot of people used them as they were fiddly.

Now, everyone has a camera on their phone and there are more phones than people apprently.

Whilst disposable cameras have a limit to the number of images they can take, peoples cameras generally don't. Couple this with the fact that people will only use their cameras when they feel the need to (i.e. a decent photo op presents itself) then the argument for having additional cameras on tables is a very weak one.

You can set up a dropbox account for your guests to upload their photos to and the amount of money you'll spend on cameras and developing costs you may as well spend a much smaller amount on having some pretty cards made up with the dropbox details on for the tables.

This would allow you to put the money towards something more tasteful and chic.... like a chocolate fountain.

I wouldn't. And didn't. If you have guests like Boy, you will get bum shots.

We put them in the activity boxes for kids aged 5-10 with a list of things to take photos of.

This worked really well, kept the kids amused and we got some really good "kids eye view" photographs.

The adults just used their own cameras and we sent out a note with the thank you cards asking people to email/post them to us.

We're not bothering. We'll probably do what Mrs C did and put a note in the thank you cards about sending them to us.

We have about 18 children coming - we may supply them for the kids.

As Mrs C has said - We put them in the activity boxes for kids aged 5-10 with a list of things to take photos of

This is what we are planning to do and leaving the adults to take photos with their own camera.
