DIY Advice from Crafty Hitchers - Lanterns

MAG2FMC, 26 May, 2012 at 16:02 Posted on Planning 0 1

Hello!

As part of our table decorations we are thinking of getting these lanterns from Ikea. I'd like to put table numbers on the lantern and have it do double duty! Any advice on how to do this? Specifically, I was thinking I could get numbered stencils and paint them on, but is there a specific type of paint I should use? I don't want anything to melt from the heat of the candle inside! (Which is also why I thought glueing anything on wouldn't work.)

Thank you!!!

How about a lovely tag/luggage label tied in to the handle with a ribbon coordinated with your colour scheme?

Or maybe a band of paper with the number on it wrapped around the candle? You could back the paper with lace trim or again a thick ribbon in your colour scheme?

I love the idea! I also like the luggage tag idea. You can get glass paint from places like Hobbycraft (though I am sure there are cheaper places out there if you look), which might be a good starting point.
