D.I.Y Crazy ! **FLASH*

RachD90, 8 August, 2015 at 20:59 Posted on Planning 0 8

Gone a bit mental on the whole D.I.Y Front, glitter and glue everywhere. Honestly the past couple months glitter has been everywhere and no trance of it ever leaving the house ever again. Garden is basically now sprayed painted gold (even though put down mats to stop that haha!!)

Anyway so far i've D.I.Y my table numbers (bought the paper-mache numbers from Hobbycraft think they are about £2 each or so), I also bought a love set to have on the bar or ever candy table and can use it in home decoration in future and also a R & M for top table (initials) got 10% off as well or maybe more as new member. Used a mixture of light gold, dark gold and also silver holographic (love this one so much so pretty) mixed into to give gorgeous sparkle in the light. Crappy pics as on phone and in bright daylight (looks gorgeous at nighttime).

Mason Jars i am D.I.Y from Home Bargains bit less than £1 each as bought in bulk online. Got 24 and painted them pink, mint/duck egg blue and spray painted some gold and also added glitter to a few. Don't have pictures of the gold, pink and mint ones as they drying as we speak haha. Also been using old yankee candles and so on. Basically everything is covered in glitter in my house at the moment.

More to come will defo flash my D.I.Y Mason Jars soon. Also Diying most of my sweet table with petit fours and macaroons and two cupcake bouquets and also having cake pops as table settings. Was going to make my wedding cake but yeahhh decided against that when tried to make just a two tiered cake and took me about 4 days.

They look great! Can I ask what paint you used for the jars?

I love these. We're using a lot of gold too, you've inspired me to get the spray paint out!

Stunning d.i.y! you've done such a good job. I'm hoping to do something similar with the paper mache letters Smiley smile

Ah thanks everyone not great pictures and do you mean what paint did I use for the jars in the pictures? If so its not paint but Mod Podge (your best friend for D.I.Y) painted inside the candle jar and just sprinkled glitter inside. Can then put a candle in it and looks really pretty. The Mod Podge dries completely clear. That's what you use as a sealent for glitter to stop the fall out everywhere. I mixed some glitter with MP and water and used this to seal in the glitter numbers.

The paper mache numbers and letters fab, I thought they be well smaller but really quite big for the price. Stay up fine as well. I think am going to buy some chunky glitter to do just one more layer as I feel this would look better on the glitter numbers as the glitter I have is very fine glitter better for using on Mason Jars etc. I will post a picture of the Mason Jars that I've used acrylic paint on tomorrow, finally dry now but still to get sandpaper to make them look shabby chic.

Great job. I have to admit that whenever I hear a mention of glitter I cringe and my mind goes to home-made Christmas decorations from primary school, but you have totally converted me, those are lovely and look so classy and elegant. I hope you'll share more as you go on.

Here are the painted mason jars in pink and mint/blue. I couldn't find mint at hobbycraft online so bought aqua and white and mixed together. I bought blush pink and just added some white to that as well for final layer. Need to still get some fine sanding paper to distress them like you see on Pinterest but should look good when finished.

Going for this look when finished
