DIY favour tags *flash*

Trish2014, 28 August, 2013 at 17:51 Posted on Planning 0 20

I was feeling really motivated at the weekend to have a go at something a bit crafty for our wedding, so I thought I'd have a trial run of some salt dough favour tags I plan on making for the big day. I think they probably need to be a bit smaller to be used for favours, or else I'll need to think of something else to use them for but thought I would give you a quick flash! I tried loads of different designs because I'm not really sure what I want yet but would really appreciate some feedback on what people like or don't like. There are a few that I really don't like - I just wanted to try out as many different things as possible while I was having a nice play!!

Ooooh, very pretty ❤️ Well done you!

I like the completely patterned hearts and the blank little birdies with the patterned wings best ;-)

    These are lovely!

My favourites are the fully patterned hearts and the pattern at the top with thank you. If you think they're too big for favours you could easily hang the ones that don't say thank you around for decoration. Could you do pink and blue butterflys on the same heart? I think they'd be my favourite.

Thanks everyone, I was happy with how they came out on the whole! HatTrick - that's a good idea for using them as other decorations I hadn't thought of that. My mum is already talking about nabbing them for the village Christmas fair if I don't use them!

Thanks, it's good to see that you've all picked at least one of my favourites so I'm feeling a bit more confident in my choices now!

They look fab! What are you having for favours if you are planning on putting the tags on them?

Thanks ? ATB - I can't make my mind up about favours at the moment, and now you mention it the ideas that I have had probably wouldn't go so maybe I could think about tying these tags around the napkins instead. That would probably work well as these ones are a bit big for tags really. Monkeyboobs - yes, I just used rubber stamps and a couple of ink pads. Now that I know it works I'll start to have a look round for some better stamps I think!

Thanks Germaki. I just used a basic salt dough recipe (1 cup flour, 1/2 cup salt and 1/2 cup water) and I inked them before I put them in the oven. Then I just put them into a really low oven for about 6 hours or so.

Not a silly question at all! You need plain flour and I put mine in at 100 degrees centigrade. I used to make salt dough models all the time but I was just guessing since it was so long since I'd done it. When I do it again, I'll start it off at a lower temperature probably because these ones puffed up a little bit.
