DIY Invitation Printing

MimiLouise88, 2 April, 2017 at 16:09 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can advise about printing your own stationery? I plan to design them myself on photoshop but I don't think my home printer can give me the professional look in such a big quantity. Can anyone recommend where to get my own designs printed? Could I use photobox or a similar site that prints photos but select matt paper? Sorry if this is a silly question!

We used Printed.com for our save the dates which were matte and I'm really happy with them. OH said they came out darker than he expected, but I don't see this and we had a dark design anyway. He's super picky though.

I got my evening invites from Vistaprint but I'm not sure if they have the option to put your own design in. I'd say comparing Vistaprint to Printed I prefer the quality that I got from Printed, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the ones from Vista. And the people who got them complimented me on them.

I also used a local company to print some off because I was in a rush for a batch of RSVP cards and they were really helpful and I could pick up in store so didn't need to pay for postage or wait for the postman which was a bonus in my book, so it might be worth seeing if you have anyone local too.

I printed my own and I thought they were faultless. Lots of people commented on how professional they looked and most couldn't believe that I had made them - particularly around the printing. I have a pretty standard home printer, HP, and the card I used was from hobbycraft hammered 300gsm. Try it, you may be surprised.

We used printed.com for Save the Dates and all our invitations and RSVPs. Their service has been great, quality has been faultless and prices pretty good. We designed our own stationary using Adobe Illustrator and a lot of different fonts and vectors. Would definitely recommend printed.com

Thanks for your replies, I will definitely have a look at printed.com! I may do a trial run of printing them myself and see how they look, I think if I'm printing them at home I will probably opt for a design on cream card whereas if I was getting them printed I might do a navy background but I'll have a play around! I designed my sister's wedding stationery last year and her husband printed them at his work (ahem in secret!) and they did look fab all put together but hers was a white background anyway.

Thanks for all your advice it's been really helpful! xx
