DIY make up trial no 2, comparison flashes to my first

Mispinkprincess, 21 August, 2014 at 15:12 Posted on Planning 0 12

Ok can I get some comparison feedback on these pictures. 1st set was my first trial second set was my second I've included both pics with a flash in the dark (I think flashback wise set 2 shoes an improvement thankfully!) my main worry was my hair as I had a few comments about the curls in set 1 so what do people think of set 2?

Woth flash

And todays set had no one to take these do had to do it myself

With flash

Make up looks great on both - not sure whether its the flash or the make up (dont know about these things)but on the second set the photo with the flash obviously looks a bit better cus it hasnt done that 'glowy white' thing to your face. But I actually think I prefer your hair in the first - I like the wavy look it has (although that said the final photo in the set where its a bit curlier is also v nice. helpful eh?!)

I've changed the foundation for the second lot, make up is the same, or as close to the same as I can get it!

Im really confused about my hair now, my friends were saying with the first lot it looks like they've all falled out already. My hair doesn't hold a curl well so no 2 is more likely to stay in!

I think its a nice wavy look the first.. and for the second this is just a tip and you may or may not want to use it but instead of curling your hair the same way so all your curls are going the same you could do a segment wrapping it around over the tongs or striagnteners and the next segment wrapping from underneath the tong or straightener.. etc etc does that make sense im not sure it does lol

I think hair and make up both look great the first time around. I love the wavy look. Set two look pretty but your hair looks too fussy for me! You've done a great job by yourself though. Well done!

Your make up looks great in both, but the second foundation is much better! I have this problem all the time as I'm very pale so I use an ivory foundation, but then look like a ghost in photos!

Your hair is a gorgeous colour, and I love the little headband/veil (not sure what to call it lol) is so pretty but I would recommend if you are curling with your straighteners to definitely alternate the direction of the curl, otherwise you may find that they all merge into one big curl. Also make sure you are bringing the straightners all the way down the length of your hair so you don't get the straight bit at the bottom (unless you want that of course!) Have you considered using hot rollers or something similar? They aren't as difficult as people think to use. If you part dry your hair and put them in while it is damp it will hold the curl much better. The rollers will give you some lovely volume and big bouncy curls. I use L'Oreal Elvive Smooth-Intense Anti-Frizz Serum on my hair and it really helps with the fly away hairs I get and make it lovely and smooth (only been using for about 2 weeks and notice a big difference). I curl my hair everyday so a bit of a pro at curls!

Your hair really does look lovely like this though! I've realised that it must sound like it doesn't! I'm just OCD when it comes to curling my hair lol

    Thankyou.

The he first photos are curled using a wand, the second set are curled using a tong (the type with the guide on so you can only go one way) I hate mixing up the curl as it makes my hair too puffy. Ghd curls don't really work in my mega straight hair. I used to have heated rollers but I found they frazzled my ends and never really curled (I've spent my life trying to find the best way to curl my Barnet!) I'll give the serum a go,it won't make the curls slip out would it?

sorry if I seem a bit dismissive I don't mean to be!

First pictures I used Maybelline, but obviously it flashed back. I bought boujois healthy mix on a recommendation from here but didn't find it had enough coverage so I put it on top of the Maybelline (I always wear 2 or 3 layers for big events as I have awful skin!) and it's done ok

I'd really recommend Makeup Forever HD foundation as it contains no SPF so it doesn't flashback at all and its designed for TV & photography. It's a bit pricey but I think t'd be worth it for you big day. The coverage is great as well. Other good options are Laura Mericer Silk Creme foundation & Mac face & body as neither of them contain SPF either

I really think it is worth investing in a mac or Clinique foundation for the wedding. Bourjouis is great and I use during the day but it's just not long lasting enough. If you can find £30 go and book a make up trial and get the charge back on the products and then you can do your own and also have some helpful hints along the way. I think the second picture the foundation isn't warm enough for your complexion and the first looks lovely. Let us know how you get on! X
