DIY Photo Booth

slewts, 8 May, 2011 at 00:38 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi, we are 4 weeks away from our last minute wedding and thinking about how to make the evening more interesting for our guests. I just saw some photos of people using photobooths. I googled the official ones you can hire, and they are way out of our budget, so wondered if anyone has made one themselves. I saw pics from a previous wedding with a wooden blackboard speech bubble and have ordered that from ebay, but wondered if anyone has any other tips or ideas. Luckily DF has lots of camera equipment (lights, tripod, backdrop, frame etc). I just wondered if anyone had used any other props or had any practical advice for how to run one (we don't really want anyone 'manning' it so would need to use a remote trigger or self timer).

Thanks,

Sarah x

We just had a box of props on a table (kids shops, poundshops, ebay) and a pictureframe with instructions! An empty pictureframe was stodd up next to it and that was all we needed!

If I had been able to get one in the car I would have made a large floorstanding frame to hold up a fabric background.

You don't need a lot... give people props and they will play!

Sorry to hijack the thread but was having wonderings along similar lines as we were going to use ours in place of a guest book with the idea that people write their message on the chalkboard and take a picture and we can put them all in big montage frames when we get back from honeymoon....I am getting together all of the props etc but a bit stuck on what kind of camera to use?

I thought originally poloroid but these pogo things look quite good....anyone got any recommendations?

Sorry, not got much advice as DF has 2 DSLR cameras, though not sure how suitable they will be as they are very complicated to use (well to me they are!). He has a remote trigger so hoping he will be able to make it foolproof for people.

I have been looking at different ways to use my campervans at weddings, and was exploring the idea of turning the camper into a photo booth. You could get guests to sit up front, pretending to drive, with a message in the window. You could also have pictures of them sitting in the back... I just need to work out the "camera equipment" side of things - just an idea to throw into the mix!

Ooh what a fabulous idea! We only have a VW Polo which wouldn't like quite as quirky methinks!
