Bridally, 22 July, 2014 at 20:27 Posted on Planning 0 12

Anyone else done a diy photobooth? I can't decide whether It's worth the 400 of having one? My h2b really wants one and I think they're really fun but.... 400!!!! Jeez....

We're diy-ing. I'm borrowing a display board from work, and putting 'alphabet' posters on it (D is for DeeBee, etc), my mum has bought school related props (mortar board, cane, so on) and we've got a small blackboard for people to write messages on. Plus mum's bought a cheap digital camera to put with it all.

We have a school theme incase you didn't guess!

A B2B who I work with is doing a diy Polaroid set up, apparently they are quite popular, not sure how much the camera and film would cost, but surely nowhere near £400?!

Have you asked your photographer if they can do anything, I was at a wedding a few weeks ago and their photographer brought out a box of bits for us to play with. Worth having a chat with them xx

We are doing a did photo booth. I brought a polaroid camera for £30 second hand and films were about £60. Then I've made some props and signs and going to gather together some glasses, hats, wigs from friends fancy dress boxes. Much cheaper and still same affect. I have been to weddings with both proper photo booth and did and in my opinion diy was much more fun

    Xxx

We are DIYing it, have got a lovely wicker basket and filled it with tacky sunglasses from Primark, going to get some tacky hats, feather boas and some seasidey props (we're having a seasidey theme to our day). We have a digital camera and photo printer already, so it's only going to cost us for the printer paper and ink pack

Never go for he cheap option when booking a photo booth unless you aren't getting the digital print outs or you are making your own. £400 is reasonable for the equipment and the photo film and hire of the props and member of staff. I'm making my own. It's cost me £50 for the fujifilm instax camera and £70 for 100 poloroids. So you can see where the expenses lie. I bought some props off ebay for £8 and will sell the camera on after the wedding. We have a wooden frame with pegs for people to hang their pictures on x

We paid £450 for ours and it was the definitely worth every penny! For that we got three hours use of the booth, two attendants, as many photos as we wanted, a copy of each print in a photo album and then all prints again on a CD. The quality of the prints was outstanding, they bought with them a massive amount of props and the best thing was there was absolutely no stress for us!

I am thinking of having just a big polaroid cut out with some props nearby and then letting people take photos there selves and then getting them sent on too me after the wedding, I looked at photobooths too just couldn't justify spending that much on a booth.

£400 for a photo booth is very cheap.

Here's a little piccy of ours we did a couple weeks ago - the panels can be any colour you like...

Thanks for everyone's replies and sorry for me taking ages replying !

Glad to hear there are lots of you out there diy-ing!! It's giving me a bit more confidence to think we could do it too. I get what people are saying about spending 400+ if we're going to do it but in the grand scheme of things it just seems extortionate for silly photos !
