DIY videos

Hi all,

Sorry if this topic's already been covered recently - I had a look and couldn't find any other similar threads.

We're getting married in December (14th) and have had a photographer booked for ages - we spent a lot on getting someone we really loved!

But recently I've been thinking that we really will miss out if we don't have a video too! Budget-wise we can't stretch to hiring a professional for the day but I wondered if any OMs have used these 'shoot it yourself' videos, and if they'd recommend them?

I haven't, but I think they can sometimes end up being nearly as expensive.

We were really lucky with our VOG as we found someone who was willing to do ours for a verylow price while they tried out new equipment but I'm very pleased we had it.

Have you considered asking local colleges and Unis to see if any film students would be interested in doing something for expenses only?

I have booked with the company “shoot it yourself” after a friend had it at their wedding.

It was such a good laugh on the day and people were funnier because it was mates filming – I’m sure a lot got edited out for this reason too. The ceremony filming wasn’t 5* but you still got all the important bits.

I decide to go for them because i love that you get the camera two days before. We have decided to film the build up and night before so we both get an idea of what went on in each other’s worlds.

There is a £100 off promo hitched are doing too till the end of August, this is what swayed me completely. Our budget doesn’t stretch as far as getting them to edit it, you get the keep all the original CDs and a friend of mine is editing it for us, or you can wait up to 6 months to decide on the editing, so we are thinking of maybe saving for it after the wedding.
