DIYers - How much booze?

lovelygirl, 15 July, 2010 at 15:11 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi

Well we are hiring the local village hall for my wedding reception next july, we are not going to have a paying bar, but we are not planning for a long night and toddling off down to the local village pub at about 10ish - Also do not want any drunk people!!

So i was thinking pimms welcome drink, 1/2 a bottle of wine each with the meal and a glass of fizzy for the toasting, planning on having jugs of water on the tables and juices and cordials for the teetotalers (thankfully only have 2 children to think about)

but if we sit down to eat at 4.30 that will probably last till 7pm, so i was thinking maybe getting some crates of lager and perry and maybe some extra wine??? but how much per person do i need to allow? there will be about 60 people - also not sure how i will keep everything cold?

HELP!

My job is an event planner and for the numbers you are saying I'd probably get in another half bottle of wine and 2 beers per adult. I'm probably massively overestimating - and realise that you don't want everyone getting drunk! - but if you're not going to the local pub until 10pm then that's three hours of drinking time to accommodate.

    Hope this helps!

I find it really difficult as neither me nor my partner as big drinkers lol if i have two glasses of wine i get tipsy - but then i prefer non alcoholic drinks mostly

So maybe then a bottle of wine each and then 50:50 beer and perry 2 per person, plus the pimms and fizzy

hmm may need to reallocate more of the budget on booze
