DJ Disco

jfletcherx, 13 July, 2012 at 22:31 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post, so hello!

We've just started looking at venues etc and are looking to get married next September. We've got a few ideas and we're going to see a venue tomorrow. The package includes DJ/Disco for the evening. Our other option is to get married at a local victorian house, lunch at a local pub, then hire a hall (plus food, chairs, tables, bar, disco, everything really...) so my question is, how much have people paid for a dj/disco or band as I have no idea.

Thanks peeps x

    Hi and welcome ?

We have a disco booked who is going to play background music from when the guests start to arrive (we're having a civil ceremony and reception in a barn), music for the ceremony, background music for after the ceremony and during the wedding breakfast then at 7pm turn it up for the evening do. He is then contracted to play until 12am. For this, including up lighters around the barn and other special lighting/effects for the first dance he is charging £350.

Since booking him we thought having a band for two sets would break it up and give a good atmosphere. We got a quote through an agency which was £875 which as wedding bands go is not too bad. We then heard of a fab local band which everyone was raving about, went and watched them one night and they were brill. They are doing two sets for a bargain price of £240

Our DJ is charging us £200, that includes travel fees too as he's a DJ from my family home-town which is an hour and half away from where we're getting married!

He'll be playing from 7:15-12:30 but obv will need time to set-up and dismantle his equipment before and after!

We are paying £700 (ouch) for a DJ and lightshow he comes while we are getting married and sets everything up so he is ready to go from 7 and then plays till 2am. WE went with him as he has done loads of weddings at the venue before so knows the place well and what lights/sounds work well for the room.

The Dj we had at our Wedding was 'AMAZING' !!! He set up at the barn we booked while we was getting married and then played soft background music while everyone was coming in to the wedding breakfast (also gave the option of having a saxophone player but that was more money)

He was smart and very polite and was also a SOUL singer and did a set for about an hour or so and then went on to play what ever wanted!!

His dj stand and speakers was all white and didn't look like the normal tack you would get down a local pub.

And he basically played from 3pm right up until 1:30am !!!!!! for £350 !!!

If anyone wants his details please feel free to ask. :-)
