DJ Problem Please Help!!!

EiraWyn, 23 June, 2009 at 12:22 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi All

Need some advice please...

A DJ has been recommended to us by our wedding Coordinator. They are in Birmingham and we are in North Wales. The price is reasonable and we've even had a discount for booking through the Hotel. However he will not be able to arrive at the venue until 7pm and my guests are arriving at 7:30! So he will probably be still setting his equipment up while the guests start arriving. The hotel is ok with us just playing a CD while he is setting up.

Do you think this is a bad idea and we should go with another DJ? (Bit worried as we are getting married in December and they are all getting booked up for xmas parties now!)

Always allow an hour for a DJ to set up.....some take far less time than that and others take more. I've perfected my set up so that i can do it in just over half an hour cus i do a lot of turn arounds. Also consider...if your DJ is cutting it that fine....whats going to happen if he gets caught in traffic or has a breakdown?

Normally...its not a problem booking someone from around the country as most of us willing to travel usually allow an hour or two to throw away so any mishaps aren't even noticed!

(Normal scenario for me....turn up 2 hours early....let bride know i've arrived so she doesn't worry......have a kip in the van +cup of coffee, complimetns of the hotel....then off we go!)

There are tons of DJs out there, so don't worry too much about not finding one with short notice.

That's the only problem with recommendations. Whenever I pass someone elses details on I always tell the client to make their own mind up about the service.

There are some great blog posts here on wedding DJs: Wedding DJ Blog.

    All the best

    Hi All

Thanks for the feedback. We have decided to go with a local DJ that my H2B has heard before. So we're all sorted now ?
