DJ Recommendations for Surrey/West Sussex wedding

MrsBoo, 6 November, 2013 at 00:21 Posted on Planning 0 5

Our search for a DJ is by far THE most stressful part of wedding planning so far.?

I have had several quotes ranging from £300-£800 and they are all friendly and prompt with replies but we are finding it so hard as we haven't seen any of them at work.

Several of our friends have got married recently and none of them would recommend their DJ's which makes us worry even more.

Any Hitcher reccomendations?

How much have/are you paying for your DJ?

    Heya!

I'm from Worthing and am using J & J Entertainments for our DJ.

They did the music for my friends birthday and were brilliant and also include photography and all on a disc for free!

They are cheaper than the quotes you have currently have but I'm not sure how far they travel.

They don't have a page on facebook, only a group page which you have to join, but worth a look and then dropping them an email for a quote.

Smiley smile let me know how you get on !

    xx

Getting the right wedding dj can be stressful - lets face it you may be spending half your wedding day with them - so getting it right is very important IMO.

get your quotes in - compair them and shortlist a few and ask to see if you can see them in action - most will not really be able to let you see them in action at a wedding - would you want your dj to invite someone to you wedding? - but many will have less formal events such as a 30th, 40th, anniversary celebrations where it maybe possible for you pop your head in, have a chat, look at their set up, see them in action and see if you 'click'.

This will give you an idea but please remember that whatever music they are playing this may well be the hosts selection, which you may hate!

    www.cloudandsunmobiledisco.co.uk

    https://www.djashleyriggs.co.uk/

    www.thedj.co.uk

    www.discofever.co.uk

    Hope it helps!

My live band has a DJ service for before, breaks and after the band finishes. The live band provides interaction with your guests and will get them dancing. Then the DJ set will keep them entertained into the night Smiley smile

Do let me know if I can help

Mitch Matthews http://djinc.co.uk/ (Yes, that is him crowd surfing).

    or

    Ian from Disco Fever http://www.discofever.co.uk/

    or

    Paddy from Discowed http://www.discowed.com/

    All are exceptional DJ's.

    Now, two bits of advice.

    1. Regardless of what anyone may say...you get what you pay for. Good people can charge decent prices because they are worth it. Prices often vary because of the equipment and name that they have. 450-750 is a good budget.

    2. Always ask who the DJ will be on the day. I'm recommending Paddy, Ian and Mitch. Some DJ's supply the kit and sub contract another DJ in if they are double booked. I'm not suggesting these guys do but it doesn't hurt to ask on booking x

Much like anyone can be a 'photographer' nowadays the same goes for DJ'ing. Much of it is assisted by software and as such, people are popping up all over the place with pirated software, illegal downloaded music and are setting themselves up on the cheap. This is no substitute for someone with years of experience in working the crowd and in many cases the cheap guys are giving the pros a bad name.
