dj service with wedding band

conway13, 10 November, 2014 at 21:46 Posted on Planning 0 6

Good evening everyone,

Last week i posted a post about finding a dj, i have now contacted my band who have said that they do a dj service with laptop/ipad. Do you think that a dj service with a laptop is just as good as a proper dj. The will provide lighting ect. This is a good option for us and cheaper. What does everyone else think? Have you seen this done before?

I went to a wedding a couple of years ago they had one like that. And dance floor was packed at all times. We have also booked a band with dk service. They also provide lights. I think it's not really worth the money buying both a band will be good enough.

Yeah lol better then spending money on something that is already included. This was our main concern having a band and wanting dj inbetween. But I think now they include it in most bands.

    Hi,

This option works well and minimises the amount of space because of only one set of equipment etc.

The only questions to ask are if they take requests on the night or is it a pre-mixed selection? Do they use bass speakers (bass-bins) to give enough depth to the sound? How do they move from DJ-band then vice-versa? ie: will there be a gap?

The band we've booked for our reception will also be doing the music between sets too. It's a great deal in my opinion. I've seen them play before so I know they're good. My friends and I were bopping away until they finished playing and the lights came on Smiley smile

I think a lot of people do that now anyway, and no one will notice once they're all up and dancing anyway! x

This is the way its done now as it is so easy for the band to provide a DJ service, very rare we've seen a separate DJ at our wedding gigs over the last few years, maybe 10 out of 200+?

Although, if you can add a DJ it does give a really nice dynamic, not sure what it is but it adds to the whole party atmosphere.
