do hair and MU stylists have contracts?

I-go-by-many-names, 26 August, 2014 at 23:02 Posted on Planning 0 4

I have found a hair and MU stylist and I would like to book her for my wedding. She has asked for £50 deposit to be transferred to her account but does not have a contract for me to sign. Just wondered if this was normal?

No idea as I'm not at that stage yet but definitely get a written quotation and receipt for your deposit.

No that sounds a bit dodgy to me, love! Sorry to be a cynic n' all. Does she have a shop or is she mobile? Have you got recommendations, how long has she been in business etc? I would ask around before parting with any cash. My hairdresser is my normal hairdresser whose shop is just round the corner from me, never asked for a deposit, I have my hair trial on Friday & she's not charging me for that. MUA is a friend of my sisters but fully qualified & has her own shop, again she never asked for a deposit, I've got my trial on Thursday it's half price for the trial. Agree with Nature Bride, if you do need to put deposit down you need to make sure you get a receipt. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. She has just emailed to say she has double booked, looks like I won't have to make a decision now about booking her! Getting desperate, all hair/makeup people in the area I'm getting married (Newcastle)all seem to be booked already or charge a fortune :-/
