Do I need a mobile phone AND an iPod? Not iPhone

Clairy, 24 June, 2009 at 17:56 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0

I'm looking for a birthday present for my 12 year old.

He would like to listen to music, and it seems a bit daft getting 2 things. On the other hand, I understand that iTunes is AAC format, not MP3, so difficult to download (?)

Other than that, it needs to be a cheapish handset in case it gets lost, to text, play games, take photos and make the odd call. i want to seriously restrict the internet.

What would be best value for money? An MP3 phone, or a normal phone and iPod?

Sorry for being thick ?

My daughter was 12 in May and she used her birthday money to get herself a creative zen mosaic mp3 player and a cheap mobile phone. She had a mobile for her birthday last year and I lost count of the number of times she lost it. Hopefully as she is a bit older she will look after them although just today we found the mp3 player outside the front door as she missed putting in her pocket after school! I have both an mp3 player and a mobile phone and much prefer to have seperate items. This does mean I have to carry 2 things around with me. One reason is that my mobile phone headphones are too uncomfortable.
