Do you get fed up with people sneering?

brideseekingblush, 23 November, 2009 at 13:24 Posted on Planning 0 18

Is it just me, or does everyone express negative opinions about everything you choose? From bm dresses to food everyone seems to want to put their oar in - I've even had a couple of people that I've told be sneery about my dress. Do other people find that?

I havent had it yet but..... ive got my armour ready for when the MIL2B gets started. She did look at the menu and moan that there werent any fish dishes on there....my H2B quickly said.....like we are gonna be ordering a fish dish for 80 people mum, its not a very popular dish. Bless him, i'm lucky that he will put her straight.

Anyway its your/our day so you have things how you want them.

I dont think your being sensitive, i think its the jelous wannabes that have the problem! i did get to a point of saying whatever, il have your wedding for you shall i ?! and i ended up wasting £400 on what someone else wanted and have now decided to stick to my plans and stuff what they think!x

you cant have your wedding how everyone else wants it coz it will just make you wish you wernt getting married in the first place and every bride has a right to her day.x

I'm going to favourite your post and look at it whenever I have a bad day. ? The most important thing is that me and OH are happy, after all.

Luckily, my answer to that question is NO...

His parents don't really know anything about the day, other than location and date. Mine knows most things and she's had her opinions but has taken no fine (like thinking that out friend who is doing our photos should have the matching tie.... What?!) ?

There is a friend of ours coming who doesn't like lamb or drink wine so I'm guessing he;ll be hungry and thirsty at the end of the meal but that's not my fault ?

I don't have any one sneering, but my mum just isn't excited about the wedding at all! She said she will a few months before the wedding! To me, it is a few months before the wedding

When planning the only ones that knew about my ideas were Hitched. I gave up explaining my ideas to my mum as she would roll her eyes at everything so twas best she was kept in the dark. My two best mates didnt know much until the night before, and no one knew about my dress until the day really......... its easier that way.......

I have had a few snide comments and a few "you can't do that" and I'm still just at the idea stage. My BM's HATE my colour choice, but I don't care, it's me and OH's day, Not theirs so stuff them.

I can't even mention my wedding at work when questioned about it as one of my "so called friends" always says "are you talking about your wedding AGAIN?!" But it's just Jealousy so I don't pay any attention!!!

I quickly came to the conclusion that there was always going to be someone who picked a fault with my ideas. I know it's easier said than done but the best thing to do is stick to what your gut instincts tell you and if you have to keep everything to yourself then do it.

I completely agree with what everyone has said. Its your day and no one elses! Jealousy has a lot to do with it.

And as far as talking about the wedding all the time goes... isn't that the idea?!? You only do it once and it should be the best day ever so it deserves to be talked about all the time in my opinion!!!

I agree Lucy, i feel it should be talked about all the time, it's the excitement, the best of it is i hardly talk about my wedding at all. I mention it to 1 person and we normally email about it. When she gets married i'll expect her to talk about it all the time. So why shouldn't i? lol

Glad you agree! the way i see it the wedding itself is one day (or one week for us!!! ? ) and the planning and excitement before hand is a major part of it all!
