Do you have a DS/DS Lite?

Lillythepink, 14 June, 2009 at 19:08 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 15

Are they any good?

I'm trying to buy one off E-bay (yes, I know, I said I was quitting) because someone has suggested WTP's designs might make a good DS game, but it got me to thinking - are they any good? ? I'd hate to be playing on the damn thing for research and have a poop time with it. What games are good?

I have one and do really like it. Brain Training is good fun although more motivating at the start when you're unlocking extra games. Zookeeper is my favourite, a highly addictive puzzle game. I also like Cooking Mama, Hells' Kitchen and Sega Casino.

I play mine in the evenings to relax, when my H is on the PS3, on holiday and on train journeys.

Do you have a friend who could lend you one plus a few games for the evening instead of buying one? I only suggest it because I bought one a few months ago and tired of it very quickly. It's not everyone's cup of tea and they're not exactly cheap.

My H is a registered developer for DS/DS Lite and has made various games over the last couple of years.

If you want any advice etc H has said he's happy to help you out.

What did you do with it, Hoobs? ?

I'm guessing that if I don't like it, AJ or the girls will use it. We need to see what you can do with one in order to plot a story arc for a game ie can you throw? How do things move? what are the graphics like? Would the console accommodate X Y or Z better - that kind of stuff. AJ has one at his mums already and is very enthused.

I have one and I love it. I play it almost every night. The whole family have each got one now so we have 5 in the house. Luckily 2 of them were bargains so it didn't cost too much.

Just discovered I can get a new one off the Tesco Direct site for £85.00

You pay almost that on E*Bay once you add in p&p. Hmmmm.. <strokey chin>

I think Hoobs' suggestion is a good un - if I cn find someone willing to part with theirs for a couple of nights!

    Thanks all ?

I got mine from fleabay - it's fab. Although my 3 yr old plays with it more than I do and he's actually better than I am at Mario Super Bros than I am! (buggar.... am I in for a flaming now that I let him play on it? It is for a controlled amount of time and usually only when we're eating out so he doesn't move from his seat and disturb other diners!)

A friend of mine bought a pre-owned one from GAME for £60. You get the same guarantee etc as if it were new.

Meh, if you get flamed for allowing your 3yr old on it, so will Francesca. Fret not.

Limewire - is that illegal file-sharing? ie theft? Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm not into stealing.

Can't add anything to what everyone's said about owning one but with reference to what you'd need for game format you can do everything on it that you can with a console. If you get Zelda as a game you'll see lots of variations of movements that can be done. It's quite amazing really.

I have one and I really like it. I love Professor Layton. My 5 year old plays on mine quite a lot, is that flameworthy?
