Do you just *know* how you want things, or do you need inspiration?

JezVonSavage, 19 January, 2011 at 20:11 Posted on Planning 0 5

I just know how I want everything, so I don't see the point in looking. I end up getting stressed when I venture to Wedding Fair's or going to dress shops, especially when i feel an immense pressure to buy something I don't want.

Did you just know what you wanted? Or did you take the time to explore every avenue?

I can totally relate to what you are saying! You want everything to look lovely, but you just don't know what this scene of 'loveliness' is!!! I spent hours looking at magazines and websites and quite often got so frustrated! I decided to not bother looking for a while to clear my head and this ended up being the big help that I needed! I started collecting all the bits that I liked and eventually I had a whole collection of ideas that I hope to use in May. As for my dress, I went to pay my deposit on not one but TWO dresses and changed my mind last minute - i'm a nightmare!! I only found 'the one' a few weeks ago and I can honestly say it's a massive weight off my shoulders as I was getting so stressed. How long have you got til the big day?

I'm the same, I know in my head how I want things so have never bothered going to a wedding fair, I cant stand people pressurising me either so its not really my thing, I like to stumble across things and get inspiration that way. Also our wedding is not massive so I dont need to worry about laods of table decs, favours etc... I kind of knew in my head what type of dress I always wanted, it was just a case of finding it (first shop!) and everything else has just come along nicely ?

Im the same and ive also rushed out and bought things and then had to return it! We had so much going on in our lives that the wedding was a nice release and distraction so i stupidly bought a bridesmaid dress only to change my mind on colour, length and style!! I thought i knew what i wanted but the more mags i read and websites i looked at i realised i wanted everything!! Trick is to have a scrap book and mental image of your venue and everything will slowly piece together xx

I've got a long loong time til my wedding- August 2012, so i've got moons to get things organised.

I'm getting frustrated because even though I know what I want, I feel like people keep pressuring me into having something different. I've known since I was about 10 that I wanted a short, fifties style dress. For some reason, my mum is convinced that I'll change my mind on this!!!

My BM's have organised a "wedding planning party" this weekend so we can all sit round thinking of ideas. It's a lovely thought, and it will be nice to see my friends all at the same time, but I think it's an utterly pointless idea, because I already know exactly what I want!!
