Do you look in the supplier section?

Lynseys Designs, 9 July, 2010 at 11:07 Posted on Planning 0 29

I just wondered if anyone ever looks in the section for suppliers to see their details and any offers they might have?

There wasn't a lot in Scotland either Vicky. I can't decide what to do about my signature as I could have had my website/email details and the pics to show people a really quick flavour of my work or use it for special offers. The supplier section allows any hibs to have a special offer advertised but I just don't think people look in there.

I don't look either and I don't think any of the HIB's I have used have been in my area anyway!

Could you do both and get the supplier thing working like it should so put your offers in it and keep referring people to the suppliers section for the offers. Then other HIBs might follow x

At the moment I've got a good offer on with free jewellery which is advertised in the supplier bit but I'm thinking that maybe if I had it in my signature then people would see it on all my posts (if they have signatures turned on) which may create more interest.

So I can't decide whether to have the offer or pictures really. What do you think?

I've not been happy with hitched recently because they don't allow much of a signature.

I think I'd be more inclined to have special offers in the signiture as people will be more likely to look at your website and see your work on there iyswim?

And enough brides flash your work so there examples on lots of posts!

You could do it that way round. More people would see it that way. You could try it out and see.

I tried looking in suppliers section and found it difficult and annoying to use so I tend to only see suppliers and their offers by what they post on the forums, do always notice signatures, especially if there is pretty pictures x

I would look to see who you all were and what you did and where you were.... then after that initial look I'd be more interesrted in what HIBS wrote in the forums......

I think you're wasting money advertising on a section no one looks at on here but then you cant advertise on here otherwise, total catch 22 me thinks!

I'll market ya, wear a big sandwhich board and parade the streets of scotland with a tiara on my head????

I find the supplier section difficult to use - any suppliers I have contacted on this as been through your signatures or word of mouth. Hope that helps x

I have the same problem! Mine is much less than the "allowed" space but it still won't let me add any pictures. Lynsey gave me a suggestion which I tried but that didn't work either Smiley sad

Guess if people want to look, they will click onto your website where they can see all the pictures better...... that's my theory anyway LOL!

My images are stored on photobucket and are linked to there in the signature set up. That sort of bypasses the glitch on hitched.

With the ammounts of N&P you get anyway I dont see why you'd need to advertise them on your suppliers list!

Just by the fact you actually join in on the posts and help out struggling brides with ideas is enough for me to recommend you to anyone on here!

    xx

I tend to look on guides for brides and I Am Engaged for suppliers now, hitched suppliers I have found don't get back to you as quickly. Most have also come through word of mouth.

Thanks everyone and aw Meggles how lovely are you, thanks.

I've somehow managed to get massive pics into my signature by using Paint but I wanted the pics and text smaller so I reduced it all only for it to say I was over again! How can it work once and then not when everything is smaller!

So I'll probably pee everyone off with a massive signature but I can't help it.

Peter is Photobucket easy to use? I'm not sure how to link things to a website?

Dead dead easy. My daughter set up my animating signature in about 10 minutes and uploaded it to photobucket and linked it on my signature.

OK, the signature does need updating, although even that is set up as a clickable link to my website.....

I've never looked in the suppliers section. I only notice N&P's and people who post a lot.

Perhaps the "I am a listed supplier" logo should also be a direct clickable link to your listing on hitched....

PurrfectGems - how did you get your signature so big, mine will not let me have more than two absolutely tiny pictures or some text so i have opted for the text but i notice you have pics and text, pls help a fellow supplier and also a customer of yours Smiley smile

Poesh I couldn't manage to have as much text as you do even without pictures so I think it's just your luck. I tried using a jpg image but I got it to work once or twice and now I can't change it to amend something so it will need to stay as it is for now. Try a jpg and see if it accepts it.

    Hi Poesh/PurrfectGems,

Hitched have a limit of 500 characters of text (including formatting such as changing font, adding image and links etc.) so if you have a long link to your signature image you'll run out of characters for the viewable text. e.g. PurrfectGems' image link is 152 characters long which will is a big chunk of the 500 limit. That could explain why you're seeing problems.

    Hope that helps,

    Gavin
