Does anybody have a bridesmaid that is trying for a baby?

justengaged, 11 July, 2008 at 15:30 Posted on Planning 0 7

My bridesmaid told m over the weekend she has been trying for another baby for the past 3 months. I dont know what to do about bridesmaid dresses now, say i get it and then she gets pregnant? Or if i leave hers and then can not get the same one as the rest closer to the time?

Has anybody else got this problem that can tell me what they are doing?

Maybe leave all of them until close to the time? Leave it til about 4 months before?? Then if she is preg she'll not be too huge for her dress IYSWIM?

Alternatively get her a size too big so it can be "adapted"!!!!!

I'd start looking at styles that could be adapted to fit should she have a bump by then. One of my work collegues is getting married in two weeks, and one of her BM's is nearly 30weeks gone. They have gone for a style which is fitted around the bust and then empire line, knee length. They simply ordered a few sizes larger for the pregnant BM on the advice of the lady in the dress shop and it is being altered to fit just a few days before the wedding to allow for growth spurts! I'd speak to the people in the dress shops, they are used to this kind of thing and know how to deal with it!

page 13 top left if not showing it, click on dress when image shows and goes even bigger

this is my bridesmaid dress, (i have it in black) one of my bridesmaids is a size26 and she looks great, so my advice if you wanna try and sort something early next year is not try something like this on, and by the way it does not mattter if they all wear different dresses look at Sex in the City they did several times.

But this dress really flatter if you have a belly !!!

I get married in 6 weeks (eek) and my bridesmaid will be seven months preggers, we found out just before we got the dress so no major issues she is a size 8 (pre bump) and we ordered a size 16 dress with an empire line a plenty of space for my bonus bridesmaid - she is having a little girl!!

I agree, leave it til much later. You could even buy on the high street. My sister was pregnant and due 4 weeks before our wedding, but unfortunately had a miscarriage. We would have got her dress when she was 4 months gone as this would have been her approx. size 4 weeks post giving birth.
