Dog grooming cost qq

memedoaky, 2 December, 2008 at 17:24 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

I've been calling round all afternoon trying to find a dog groomer in my area (Bangor, County Down) who will bath my 2 dogs (both Boxers).

I normally do it myself but I thought this time round it would be easier to send them to a professional groomers because of the mess/hassle etc. However out of the 5 I've found in my area only 1 will do it. The other 4 refused as they don't do Boxers or large breeds! Business must be great for them!!

Pah that has slightly annoyed me!! The one that will is atually our vets and they're charging £20 per dog. I think this is reasonable, but wondered what others pay for their large breeds grooming.

Thanks for any replies

Luv Victoria

Despite the mess and hassle, there's no way I'd pay to have someone bathe my two large dogs. That'd mean missing the priceless looks on their faces when they're covered in suds and feeling sorry for themselves ?

When our border collie was still around we used to pay about £30-£35 for a wash and blow dry! he was a v big border collie and long haired and it was so worth it as he came back looked so lovely. he wasn't keen on us washing him and hated the hair dryer so no way to dry him - no idea how they managed to get him so dry!

I paid £26 for our Springer Spaniel to be bathed, groomed and trimmed. Quite expensive IMO but worth it as couldnt be bothered with the hassle of doing it in the house.

The dog groomers in our area seem to be so busy that they can charge what they like. I phoned one salon in early November and the first appointment I could get was Jan!!

I pay £25 for my small terrier to be bathed and clipped. I think £20 each just for a bath sounds about right. I couldn't stand the mess (or sorrowful whinging) from my dog when she was bathed.

    Thanks everyone!

Sorry for the delay in response I had to log off not long after I posted as H was having a fight with the George Foreman in the kitchen!?

Anyway I've decided to do it myself, because as H pointed out our older Boxer (she was 10 last Sunday) is going blind in one eye and is a little funny with stangers approaching her on that side. I can get them both to jump in tha bath on their own but they won't jump out so I'll stick the smell (its not that bad but I'm over sensitive right now thanks to being pregnant) until the weekend when H will lift the heffers in & out of the bath!

Thanks again for the replies and yes flailing wildly the look on their faces is priceless. When I bathed the 2 of them a few months ago after a trip to the beach they didn't speak to me for a week and even refused to greet me when we came in or take a chew off me!! They really are hufft b*tches?

    Luv Victoria
