Dog people. How long does it take them to mate?

POD, 13 January, 2009 at 13:23 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 23

As in how long does the actual act take?

A neighbouring min. poodle is on heat and escaped up to our garden. My colleague's intact male lab (mine has been done) followed her home and they were out of sight for a couple of mins max. Is that long enough?

To compound matters the people looking at the poodle speak no English so it was difficult to explain while retrieving our dog out of their house (he followed her in).

I wouldn't have thought so. He'd barely have time to "lock on" in a few minutes. And then it can take a while for the lock to go down. So you should be ok. Try putting Midori's name in the title - I think she breeds labs.

Has it sparked up a fag yet? If not, I think you're OK.

? is he doing the 'shaky leg' dance in his sleep? We relive the events of the day through our dreams you know!

If you find him googling for child tax credits I would start to become a leetle concerned.

I'd wait until tomorrow to be sure. If he calls her, you're fine.

15-25 mins? Jeez no wonder they're called stud dogs.

That one is 2 and mine 6, they're both failed police dogs but we have to say the failed bit quietly. They're quite sensitive about it.

I used to live near a police dog handler when I was a child - he had 2 dogs, an Alsation which was his actual police dog, and a black lab who was a failed police dog. The lab had failed due to being too playful and thinking all the exercises were a big game - he was adorable. The Alsation I was quite scared of - he always seemed to be 'on duty'.

That is how we ended up with pups with one of our shar-pei, it seemed to happen in a flash?. Labradoodles or what ever their called are very popular though?

Well, looking after dogs is like children so you probably have your hands full. ?

Titchbunny, what did your shar pei mix with. It wasn't a cocker was it?

No another shar-pei, the owner of it had another one that they were having trouble with and while I took it out H let Jazz out into our garden and their other dog knocked their dog guard down and got out of the boot, I still chuckle when I think of my H's face. H said he didn't see the other dog in the car. It was all really embarrassing, they ended up with one of the pups though?

Is it a mini poodle you say?

If it has mated then the birth would possibly kill the *** as half lab puppies would be very large.

Labradoodles are still very popular but I work for Labradoodle rescue and the amount of dogs we have in at the mo is really scarey,If possible get the dogs to the vets for a morning after pill type thing.
