dont know what to do, any ideas????

The BFG, 13 November, 2009 at 16:10 Posted on Planning 0 30

Im sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bored i want to be doing wedding things but i seem to have shot myself in the foot with getting on with my organisation and dont really have anything left i can do this side of christmas, i have made my invites which i was going to leave til after christmas, everything is booked and deposits paid, little extras (table gems trivia cards etc) have been bought, we have an appointment with the wedding co-ordinator at our venue on 8th Jan and my dress is due in the shop in January also. I had diverted my attentions slightly with christmas shopping but thats all but done now. Has anyone else hit a lull but still wants to be 'doing stuff?' x

    Meeeeeee!!!

I started planning end of September for our wedding in May and haven't had an awful lot to do. Everything I've thought I need to do, the decision was easy and it was sorted and booked in a couple of days... Damn for being too organised! ?

Everyone always seems like they're worrying about something which I'm not doing but everyone has been telling me it's a good thing I have nothing to do - means I should be more relaxed about the whole thing ?

So, from the advice I've had already - enjoy it! (which is hard when you want to be excitied and doing stuff I know!) ?

I have lulls where i think I have nothing to do and I hate them! But right now I feel like Im not doing enough quick enough!!! I had a massive lull for about two months when I should have been making things!

What about an order of service/day, have you done one of those if your having one?

We are getting married at Limpley Stoke Hotel so wont really need an order of service as such and dont really feel i can start putting the 'order of the day' together until we have met again with the wedding co-ordinator although this is something i have been thinking about, if just to give me something to do!! did a 'wedding day timetable' search on google last night lol

You could make a post box for your cards, and goody bags for children ie crayons etc.

Yes i think so (20th August) well at least i know i must be on par then if you are the same, im so excited about it that i just want to be doing it all now! We are going out for dinner with our friends who are organising our piper on monday evening so im looking forward to that but also dont want to dominate the evening with wedding talk! we will be paying the balance for our band in december too. x

Ooooh a post box yes that would be a fabby idea, i like the goody bag idea too but not sure if i will do that as we are having a 'kids table' and instead of putting the scatter gems and feathers on there i will be putting on lots of bits and pieces to keep them busy (the sorts of things you would put in the goody bags).

Does anyone have any suggestions to get me started on a post box? our colour scheme is burgundy and ivory, H2b is wearing flower of scotland tartan and iam having dark red cream/ivory roses and thistles in my bouquet x

    Hi lorna

your the week before me, i have just got my 2010 diary and calender and have spent an entire evening writing all my appointmnts and things to do in it, dress fittings etc

That was sort of wedding related? or it just felt like it - i wrote in it when i had to contact my suppliers, and when to post invites etc

Have you made your favours yet?

i have my 2010 diary too so i may go through it like you have done with yours, as for the favours we were thinking about having tubes of personalised love hearts and havent really thought any further than that as they also seemed to be the cheapest option! about £50 for 100, although due to bb dates we havent ordered them yet so any other ideas are greatfully recieved x

How many favours are you going to need?

The little organza bags on ebay are very cheap? You could put mints in them ( a large bag of them is quite cheap i think they are mint imperials) just pop 3 or 5 into each bag?

Or the favour boxes that you assemble yourself are also on ebay?

My daughter has a magnet maker s i was thinking of making little magnets? Vista print do magnets also quite cheap?

Well well well, it looks like this next week may actualy turn out to be quite a 'weddingy' week, as already mentioned we are going out to dinner on monday with friends (one aim of which is to discuss piper arrangements for the wedding) I m working tonight and then not again until thursday so have a few days to play about with some of the suggestions you lovely ladies have given me (im particularly looking forward to designing a post box), ive also started to think a bit more about jewellery ideas so may look about for some inspiration, eek i suddenly seem to have lots to do!!

is there a moral to this????????? be careful of what you wish for maybe? lol

Also as there has been 'a few issues' at my youngest sons football club i have suggested we start some kind of parents / carers group to help promote and maintain good relations within the team and help with fundraising at the same time, ideas of which i have to put in writing to the manager on friday evening.

Oooohhh sounds good - i much prefer to be busy than to be in a lull. Glad you've found some things to do.

I need to finish my bridesmaids dresses this week as i want to move them out of my front room and put them away. Its fun choosing your jewellery i chose mine and then set about making it which i really loved doing.

I will also have a go at a post box but wont do it this week - will save it for a week when i have nothing to do to keep me going!!

Oh i love fittings i cant wait for mine - But ours arent till next year. Especially as three of my bridesmaids are still growing (aged 2, 8 and 13)

I do have the dresses though i got them in a bargain wedding sale. Brought a little big so will only need taking in a little maybe. i am currently sewing tiny crystals onto them to glam then up a bit.

    Hi

If you are truly bored (ha ha!) you could look at my website and tell me what you think of the wedding ideas. Have only just started supplying for weddings (after a few local commisions) so would appreciate feed back about what brides are looking for. I cant beleive you are so organised - you should spend the time relaxing and getting excited about your big day!

Oh Lorna you sound super organised - good for you!!!!!

I've definitely had times when I've had nothing to do and wanted to do something. I usually spent that time endlessly surfing the internet for ideas. Sometimes its good to just have a break though because you do get to a stage where you think "enough!!!!" and are fed up with it all.

Some good suggestions from other girls though of what you can turn your attentions to.
