Dont Tell the Bride!!

Excited_Bride_To_Be, 10 December, 2012 at 13:45 Posted on Planning 0 13

We had to postpone our wedding due to money issues and id just got my head round it as we had everything booked and deposits paid. Today i recieved a call from DTTB who wanted to interview me further about our plans and why they were cancelled etc. She said she will inform us before xmas either way if they can take it further!!!

Has anyone else had the phone call? Im trying to work out if they call alot of people, or do they actually narrow down the applications first.

I might get my 2013 wedding after all!!

Eeeeek how exciting. I read somewhere that if they approve you from the call then it all happens very quickly after that! Perhaps they are wanting a Christmas wedding?

Did you have quite unique plans?

I doubt it could be xmas, as we need to give at least 3 weeks notice to the registry to get the licence, but ur right it could be close!! we didnt have unique as such but it was just our own, and all id worry about is the dress lol

This will be a good read for you https://www.rocknrollbride.com/2012/10/dont-tell-the-bride-the-real-story-aka-mike-beckys-mexican-wrestling-wedding/

The Bride and Groom said "It really does all happen in 3 weeks! For us the whole process from us sending the application form in, to our wedding day was 5 weeks!"

Perhaps a New year one then ?

Would it be bad just to show him THE DRESS lol....Although after reading the article above it could be harder than it appears for even the groom to plan what he wants

I dunno, me and my OH have joked in the past that we would plan everything together and then go on it and book everything we'd planned.

As long as you make out in the bit when you go to the dress shop that you want a, I dunno - red fishtail dress with no bling - when really you want (and he knows you want) a big white princess dress covered in sparkle, then surely the producers wouldn't be suspicious? Will still make it look like good telly for them because it'll look like you're going to be disappointed!

    Hey :-)

I had the phone call from them, and then they rang my OH after my phone call...

I don't think we were outrageous as they wanted and then I read lots of stories about how the production crew purposly mess things up for good tv...

I.e "Doesnt this dress look amazing" - to the dress thats the most awful in the shop

"Lets tell the registrar 2 hours late" you get the drift!

If you don't mind a bit of a kerfuffle then I'd say go for it!!

Nevermind... Like the guy in the review said he could do it again he'd save up and do it without the producers getting in the way.

Yes, you will have to wait to get married, but you can do it the 'proper way' and know you can look back in years to come and know it was perfect for you... Rather than just free.

I had the call earlier this year, and they rang OH afterwards. Didn't hear anything back from them so assumed we were too boring. Then a girl at work asked if I'd applied for it. We hadn't told anyone so I wondered how she knew. Turns out the producer had left the show so the season we were supposed to be on was cancelled and her friend was the new producer and we were on the short list. I was excited, but OH basically said "I don't want to do it, when we hadn't heard anything I was happy the BBC had let you down so I didn't have to tell you". Needless to say, we didn't do it and they weren't very happy. If it's what you want, good luck for it and I hope you hear something soon Smiley smile
