don't tell the bride

murphy88, 8 August, 2013 at 21:06 Posted on Planning 0 33

I have just seen a new series of dont tell the bride is starting soon

Question is would you trust your oh to plan?

Could you do it to?

Do you think he'd do a good job?

Christ no. I did allow him to choose the lining of the jacket he had made - wish I hadn't, he chose POORLY!

    No, I wouldn't Smiley laugh
He'd try bless him but he's rubbish at anything needing planning and would forget so many important details haha.

My friend is on this series! I'm a little bit nervous to watch it though as the small bit I've seen has been filmed/edited out of context so I'm not sure how the actual show will turn out.

Her OH was brilliant at the planning but the producers do try to trip you up or mess you up to make it a bit more exciting so for that reason alone I wouldn't do it!!!

I think my OH would be much better at it than me. He's doing a fair bit as it is to be honest. Would never go on the show though! Mainly as Pugsley says the producers do a fair bit to try and trip you up and it's such a special day I wouldn't want to take that gamble. And I'd hate to be on TV. And they'd probably edit it me to look like a bridezilla, I haven't had many proper bridezilla moments but I can have a bit of a diva side in general life so would probably come across badly out of context ?

Hmmm...I think my OH would be ok although he hates making decisions so his brother would be helping who can't make decisions either. Umm....so actually no, he wouldn't be able to do it! LoL!

I wouldn't hesitate to let him plan it all if he wanted to! I don't think i'd stretch to going on DTTB though.

We seem to have had virtually identical taste in pretty much everything so far, from venues to dresses so I think he'd get it pretty spot on.

He, however would be reluctant I think. Having the same taste is his excuse to sit back, relax and just nod along ?

    No way, ever.

Some of the suggestions he has come out with so far are 'why do we need invites, can't we text everyone' and 'favours and centrepieces are just fancy bits no one even looks at'

We have similar tastes so yes I would. He would be the one who is really laid back though and gets everything done at the last minute and just about manages to pull everything off! Wouldn't go on TV though, no way.

I actually applied for this, and got accepted....
But when I sat down and thought about it, I couldn't handle OH planning the whole thing.
Everything would be rushed, and rugby related.
It would probably end up being held at the Local!!

So I told them we wasn't interested any more.

It was very exciting getting the call back though Smiley laugh

My brother nearly went on this, but they couldn't do the dates the show wanted to do.

have thought about applying but I'm so glad we didn't. I love the show but couldn't go on tv. I would trust oh to do something's as he is quite the groomzilla but the small details that I would want, he would never think of them.

Oh I can't wait for this to start! Love the show, always has me in tears by the end, whether its happy tears or laughter tears!!!

I would maybe trust OH do arrange our wedding, would give him some pointers beforehand of course!! However he has always said he would HATE to do that as he would be terrifed of messing it up and picking the wrong things and letting me down (bless him). I wouldn't want to be on tv though!!!

Pugsley - sorry, I can't copy/quote what you said as I have no idea how to do it, but I have often wondered if the producers do some editing and try and make things look more messed up than they are! You will have to say afterwards which one was your friend!!!!

    xx

I think my O/H would do pretty damn good....how do they ensure the bride has never ever let on the style of dress she's like in the whole time the couple had been together though?

O/H and I have been together 9 years and before we were engaged we spoke about marriage all the time.. the perfect house came first so marriage had to wait.

I love the series, I haven't seen it as a bride to be so will watch with a new perspective! I did actually suggest going on to OH but he wasn't interested, i'm glad now though, before we started planning I thought I didn't care about the detail but planning has taught me that I do, and I'm not sure how I'd feel about our wedding being supr mario themed or such like!!

No I wouldn't have gone on it. My OH said he would do it if he could only spend a grand and then keep the rest!

Hell yes! The only thing I was set on was not wanting a strapless dress. I really didn't mind about the rest of it. I think OH would have done a really interesting job.

I think my OH would do a good job but I couldn't do it, because I enjoy the planning. I wouldn't want to be on TV either.

I'd feel sad that I didn't get to pick my own dress (even though I feel confident OH would choose a flattering one)

I like Don't Tell The Bride but I can't stand 4 Weddings! Why anyone would want to go on that show is beyond me - they're all so nasty about each other. It never works anyway because they all want to win!

Yes I would as we both think alike and want the same kind of wedding, no family or friends, no stag or hen do we are just eloping to the Caribbean and telling people when we get back. I do take him dress shopping as I start to panic and he calms me down. I don't want a wedding dress tho as I don't really like them. Getting married in 54 days and I have no dress, shoes or any idea about hair, bouquet etc. I wish someone would just find a dress for me, so far not tried a single dress on just mooches around a few shops and for out as fast as I could.

sure it will all work out fine - gulp!

    Um, no.

Not that I think it would be a disaster, I just know the little details wouldn't have been there. And I guarantee he wouldn't have remembered things like flowers for the mums etc (which I know my mam would have been gutted to have not received).

My OH would know exactly the right sort of things to do, and what I'd like, but I reckon he'd be too quickly swayed by his friends! So no, and I'd never go on a show anyway, I'd feel too awkward.

I would trust him completely to do an awesome job. I don't think it would be the same as my choices, but I know I would like it. I think his choices would be classic and simple, and perhaps not as girly as mine, but I know I would like whatever he did even if it wasn't quite what I'd choose myself.

It's actually become a running joke at work that we should apply - this started way before we were even engaged!

Although saying all this, I would never do it, because I do want it to be a combination of both our personalities and both our ideas. ?
