Dont tell the bride..would you?

Fordate, 25 November, 2008 at 03:07 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hello all

I have watched 'Dont tell the bride'

For those who havent seen it in a nut shell the groom organises the day in a month with a budget given from bbc cant remember how much. He organises the whole thing including the dress, the bride doesnt have a say at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you do it?

I would do it, 12k to spend on my wedding would be bliss and non of the hassle or orgainsing.

Plus, OH has helped pick most of the stuff for our wedding all ready so I know I could trust him.

In the programmes I have seen, they never appear to have a photographer.......☹️

No, I'd hate to be followed around by TV cameras for so long.

Surely a smart couple would discuss every detail before they started filming to make sure they both got what they wanted? If I was doing it, I'd take my OH dress shopping beforehand so he could see the dresses I liked.

No way - i would be a nervous wreck and to be far part of the enjoyment of getting married is to plan it yourself and get excited! I dont know if anyone saw the last series but there was a couple on there and he had forgot to organise the transport correctly which meant that the best man was ringing the bride in the morning and tellin her to get a taxi...she was in tears and said that her husband had ruined it all! It worked out fine in the end but still...nightmare!!

Yes but the bride chucked a hissy fit and refused to let her mum come in the car with her and her dad which compounded the problem.

Ah...thats "good tv" though and precisely what the producers want.

I think it was the same episode where the bridesmaids were still waiting for their dresses a couple of hours before the ceremony. Apparently the production crew had told the groom they would drop them over beforehand but then then deliberately didn't, leaving him to cop an earful of grief off the bride's parents.

I wouldn't do it, as I'm enjoying planning with Iain. I'd hate not knowing what was going on.

Also, you'd be portrayed in a very different light to how things actually went! That's the beauty of editing!

Having said that, I'm sure that Iain would do a fantastic job! He's not great at orgainising things, but we're so on the same wavelength that I'm certain that he'd have everything exactly how we'd both like it!

I would do it!! £12k to spend on my wedding would be amazing, and I wouldn't have the stress of organising a wedding in one place and living somewhere entirely different!

H2b and I have made pretty much all the decisions together anyway, and gone for things we both like, so I know he wouldn't do anything horrendous, and even if he did I'm marrying him for the marriage, not the wedding, in the end so it wouldn't really matter in the grand scheme of things... (I may have to remind myself of that more often when I'm stressing about it ?)

I wouldnt, I'm enjoying planning it myself. Although I would trust my h2b to organise it all.

I wouldnt have done it for the being on tv point of view and getting all stressed but I find it hard to believe that the couples on there really havent discussed things that they like/dislike before the programme. My H would have known what was a definite no-no before there was any filming yet you see them all fall out over something completely ridiculous like the colour of the flowers. It's not like you decide to get married and never talk about what you want.

I would do it....H2B knows all my ideas, and we have pretty similar taste......although he'd probably want to spend most of the budget on photography and helecopters!!

I wouldn't. I trust my h2b completely but I'd like to be involved in the planning. I think that half the fun of a wedding is planning it together!

I saw that episode you're talking about. She also hated her make-up that he chose and made them change it! And he had a poker theme for the reception which she hated! ?

Did anyone see the episode where the theme was las vegas? It was so tacky, and the bride's face when she saw the show girls he'd hired to serve drinks! Hilarious! I would do the programme as me and H2B have similar tastes! In a way it would be quite nice to not have the pressure of planning the whole thing! x

I would trust Oli to get everything right, but I'm enjoying planning too much to hand over the reins! Plus I'm a bit of a control freak, so couldn't see myself doing it.
