Down and overwhelmed

Last night I sat down with some wedding magazines thinking it would inspire me back into planning after a bit of a lull, but all it did was make me feel down! Last night I sat down with some wedding magazines thinking it would inspire me back into planning after a bit of a lull, but all it did was make me feel down!

My wedding is Feb 2011, I only just got my invites and started sending them out, have booked Venue and Registrar, half-confirmed Caterer but thats it and I feel a bit overwhelmed with it all to be honest. By the time H2B came home I was in a right state - a total blubbering mess.

I've found a dress I really want but I can't find one anywhere near close enough to go and try one as I don't drive and can't afford trainfare (cant afford to eat most of the time let alone anything else!) and also it has a 12 week delivery so its cutting it a bit fine.

I'm just convinced that my wedding won't be anything like as pretty or as elegant as others, and that like everything else in my life, no matter how hard I try and how much effort and work I put in, it will be a huge disappointment and people won't enjoy it.

Sorry for the self-pitying rant - just feeling really meh. ☹️

How about a 'movie quiz' for each person to fill in during the day, then give the answers out after the speeches? 20 questions ought to be sufficient, here's a couple for you.

"You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off" is a classic line from which movie? (Italian Job)

"How many St Trinians films are there?" (6 - the original four plus the two modern ones)

"Who, or what, is Priscilla, Queen of the Desert?" (the bus used in the movie)

"Which railway station was much of the footage for 'Brief Encounter' shot?" (Carnforth, Lancashire)

The more obscure the better, of course... you could also have a childrens version so they don't feel left out?

YOU COULD GO TO THE CHARITY SHOP, BUY A LOAD OF VIDEO TAPES AND SPRAY THEM IN A METALIC SPRAY, GO TO SOMEWHERE LIKE BLOCKBUSTERS WHO MIGHT HAVE OLD PROBS AND POSTERS YOU CAN USE! WE USED TO GET LOADS OF STUFF FROM THEM FOR THE NURSERY I WORKED IN! THEY'LL HAVE CUTOUTS THAT YOU CAN PUT PICTURES OF YOUR OWN FACE ON THE CHARACTERS....

I had another thought about your dress. Why not go to a local shop and try it on in the pink just to be sure it's right for you and to check the size. Then you can spread the search wider and confidently order it online for home delivery.

Thats what I'm planning to do now, although the nearest in pink is about 45 miles away, but it'll be worth it.
