dress alteration help! *flash*

SusieWong, 13 December, 2010 at 15:34 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hello, ok got my dress today was a bit of an anticlimax really! its really rather big, i think itl need to be alterd quite a bit id say by 2 sizes roughly also, its the type with one side hitched up and ruffled with a flower at the top of the ruffle, well tht should sit on my hip but its more round the back, i have no idea about any of these things im not really a girlie girl, so my questions are, can they take it in tht much (its lace up back), can they spin the bottom round a bit so its where it should be? and also it needs a hoop, how do i go about getting one of those?

Is it a copy dress then? I'm sure a good seamstress will be able to do something but it might cost you quite a bit

Someone one here is quite good at this kind of thing, just can't remember who. Can you flash a pic of you in the actual dress?

SaSaSi, thank you so much thts made my day!

Flowmojo, yes im in walton, iv just done what u suggested and have an appoitment in jan in clacton in a bridal shop tht sell designers and also make thier own itl b nice to go there as i didnt get the "bridal shop fun" thank you so much for your advice.xxx

the dress i admit is shoddily made, but on tiny budget itl do with some tweeking (well ok alot of tweeking! lol), and as long as it stays put and dosnt unravel thruout the big day il be happy, i guess if i think of it as a template?? hey if any of you recognise the dress from anywhere let me know id be interested to know if its originally someone elses design, and as soon as it starts to look half decent, il get a pic of me in it.xxxxxxxxxxx

    It is a beautiful dress!

That's really interesting about finding a bridal shop who will alter it, as I need to get mine altered too and I also have the dress already

Nursebride2b, i knew of some dressmakers, but as flomojo suggested i searched it and it came up, have a look at local ones to you, a majoraty of them will probobly do outside alterations, and you know its what they sepcialise in, AND you get to have the standing in the bridal shop experiance feeling like a princess thing, which until now i hadnt realised i actully wanted.xx
