Dress alterations

SO2B, 17 July, 2012 at 16:57 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hiya

I bought my dress in America and brought it over here but it's slightly too big. I'm trying to get a rough idea of how much it will cost me to get it taken in slightly and also get a bustle added.

How much have you ladies spent or do the alterations come as part of the cost of your dresses?

Thanks

My dress alterations cost £135 but I only had the length adjusted and a belt sewn on to the bodice as I didn't want it to go across the corset at the back. This was on top of the cost of the actual dress itself.

That also included them adding a hook up for the evening so my dress didn't drag along on the floor and I could dance in it easier.

Thanks....I'm also really nervous about trusting my dress with anyone! I keep putting it off but I want to get it sorted soon so I can stop worrying about it. I've even been having dreams that it's my wedding day and my dress is too big!

Mine were £160 but I lost loads of weight, it was too long and I had a button thing put on to bustle it up for dancing. This was from the shop I bought it from.

Hi, I was thinking about buying my dress in NYC this autumn, was it easy to do? I've fallen in love with some White by Vera Wang styles that are only available on David's Bridal (in store) was hoping I could try it on, have the dress shipped over then get it altered?

Id love any advice that you have!
