As the above says really! We've got a engagment party tonight and the dress code is smart-casual.

    To a friends engagement party yes - to a job function no. However they'd have to be nice smart jeans in dark blue or black with heels.

    As a bloke I'd say 'smart' automatically rules out jeans. But then ladies have it a bit easier.
